Salvadore L. Duhe, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Gilchrist Duhe. Son of the late Davis Duhe and Josephine Ranatza Duhe. Loving father of Salvadore Jr., Ronald and Barbara Duhe. Beloved Father-in-Law of Mary Duhe. Brother of Joseph and the late Charles Duhe. Beloved cousin of Josie Landry. Proud grandfather of Salvadore D. Duhe (Mariah). Great grandfather of Jolie Duhe. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a longtime resident of St. Bernard and proudly called it home. He proudly served in the United States Army. He enjoyed a 30-year career as an employee of Elevating Boats Inc. After retiring Mr. Sal worked for many years at Lynn Oaks School. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Violet. He was born into an Italian Farming Family and continue that tradition until the age of 86, joyfully suppling his family and friends with farm fresh vegetables. According to many, his tomatoes were the best in the area. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in Salvadore's memory beginning at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
