Alfred Jules Fredericks, Jr. died on October 26, 2016 at the age of 85. Alfred (A.J.) was born in New Orleans, LA on July 15, 1931 to the late Alfred Fredericks and Theresa Simmons Fredericks. He was the father of Peggy Sue Fredericks, Judith Fredericks Mayeaux, Kimberly Fredericks, and the late Anthony Fredericks and Alfred J. Fredericks III. He was the father-in-law of Phillip Mayeaux and brother of the late Beverly Fredericks White. He was Paw-Paw to Renee Mayeaux McKeough (Aeron), and Brooke Sparks. He proudly served in the Korean War from 1951-1953, where he was a member of the 25th Army Division, 65th Engineering Combat Division Company A. He worked at Halter Marine, Kaiser Aluminum, and The Louise S. Davis Center. A.J. was from the lower ninth ward of New Orleans. He always let everyone know that he was from the “lower nine.” He loved the New Orleans Saints, his Purple Martins, and dancing (especially waltzes). Many thanks to the staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington and St. Tammany Parish Hospital nurses and staff for their care and kindness. Relatives and friends of the family attended a memorial service at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 3 p.m. Visitation started at 1 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
