Fay Rose Hammer, of New Orleans, LA; entered into the eternal presence of our Lord on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Violet, LA, at the age of 79. Fay was the devoted wife to Roy J. Hammer and loving mother to her children Paula Guidry Frederic (Jules), Richard Guidry (Lorrie Nakapaevaokalani), and stepchildren Errol Hammer, Royce Hammer (Diana). Fay was the beloved aunt to nieces Kathy Vitrano, Cheryl Fos (Mark), great niece Trisha Fos, and great nephew Mark Fos Jr. Fay loved to swing and sing to her grandchildren Daniel Guidry (Ashley), Erika Lynn Benfatti, Carmella Faye Benfatti, Dominic Jude Benfatti, Royce Hammer Jr. (Megan), Stephanie Hammer, Anthony Hammer, and Diamond Saber Hammer, and her great-grandchildren Daniel Guidry Jr., Danilo Benfatti, Antonio Benfatti, Madison Hammer, Bayleigh Hammer, Jordan Hammer, and Royce Hammer. Fay was happiest when surrounded by her family, and she will be greatly missed. Fay is preceded in death by her mother Carmela Romano, father William Morton, sisters Faye Rose Morton, Kathleen (Ida) Morton Gentry, and brother William (Billy) Morton Jr. Faye was born in New Orleans to Carmela and William on June 29, 1940. She attended L.E. Rabouin High School in New Orleans. On June 29, 1983, Fay married Roy in Violet, LA. She retired as the office manager of Wausau Insurance Company in Metairie after many years of dedicated service. Fay was deeply involved with the church she loved, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Violet LA. She was a devoted catechism teacher and was awarded the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion in 2016 for the contribution of her time and talents to the church. Family and friends attended a visitation and funeral mass on Wednesday February 12, 2020 at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Officiant: Father Bryan Howard, Our Lady of Lourdes.
