Frank “Bud” Reis Jr., of Pearlington, Mississippi, passed away at home on Friday, February 14, 2020, surrounded by his family at the age of 68. Born in New Orleans on November 25, 1951, he was the first child of the late Frank Reis Sr. and Louisiana Marguerite Cox Reis. Bud graduated from St. Bernard High School class of 1970. After moving to Slidell, LA, he married Lisa Gaye Lloyd, later becoming the proud father of two children, Frank Reis III and Samson Lloyd Reis. Bud and Lisa celebrated 45 years of marriage in July. Bud was a devoted family man who thrived on togetherness, frequently hosting jamborees and functions for family and friends. He loved to laugh, especially at his own jokes, and his music brought joy to everyone who heard it. His love for God led him to play guitar in multiple church worship teams, and to use his Christian and country music to bring joy to the residents of local nursing homes. No one who knew him could doubt the love that filled his life. He worked in construction for more than half a century, becoming a master carpenter who could turn someone else’s vision into a reality. His work ethic and skill were surpassed only by his character. In his career as in his personal life, he was ever dependable, with integrity and modesty that commanded admiration from all who knew him. Bud was a man with an immense sense of responsibility, fiercely protective of his children and grandchildren. His concern for their safety was never a deterrent for his grandchildren, who loved to shadow him and help him with projects around the house. Broken toys were no issue because they were certain that “Pawpaw can fix anything!” A mirror for other aspects of his life, even the “man cave” first set aside to be his personal space was soon overrun by laughing children, building their own creations with scrap wood. As a child, Bud’s father fostered in him a love of sports, the whole family being ever present on the local baseball field. As an adult he continued to combine his love of family and sports. He played baseball at Bayou Liberty Civic Club, joining his brothers and cousins as a member of the Bayou Bums. When he took up golf as a hobby, it was his brothers, brothers-in-law, and uncles joining him on the course. Finally, when he started bowling, it was once again family who accompanied him. Each of his sons treasures the memory of their time in bowling leagues with him. Bud is preceded in death by both parents: Frank Reis Sr. and Louisiana Marguerite Cox Reis; as well as his beloved younger brother, Michael Edward Reis; his mother-in-law, Martha Lloyd Vespo; and many admired aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Lloyd Reis; children: Frank Reis III and Samson Lloyd Reis (Hannah); grandchildren: Cidney Noel Reis, Ciera Marie Reis, Frank Reis IV, Tristan Waters Reis, Civana Leigh Reis, Isabel Ann Caldwell, and Matthias James Reis. He is also survived by siblings James Clifford Reis, Theresa “Mickie” Rose Reis Sutman (Robert), (Sally), Cheryl Ann Reis Williams (Johnny), Henry Wayne Reis (Sherri), Joyce Mary Reis Bourda (Robert), Charles John Reis (Lori); siblings by marriage: Ronald “Bo” Lloyd (Barbara), Cecelia Lloyd Anderson (Ernest), Cheryl Lloyd (Steven), Hilton Lloyd (Susan), Susan Lloyd Roberts (Ronnie), Jason Lloyd (Patty), Charlotte Lloyd Friedlander; honorary siblings: Celeste Haygood Navarro and Renee Gallagher; as well as many more nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles from both sides of his loving family.
