Ruth M. Gebbia, a proud resident of St. Bernard Parish who was displaced by Katrina and currently of Maryland; died peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Antonio M. Martinez, Sr. and Mary F. Denley. Ruth enjoyed 54 years of a loving marriage to her late husband, Charles J. Gebbia. Ruth is beloved by their three children Diane Boyea, David Gebbia, and Debra Armond, daughter-in-law Lucy Gebbia, son-in-law Guy Armond, and late son-in-law Ron Boyea. Ruth dearly loved her six grandchildren Holli Hayman (Jason), Brad Armond (Alex), Kelsey Longhenry (Dustin), Lindsay Clark (Jon), Mary Gebbia, and Ross Armond (Grace) and her three great-grandchildren, Chase and Addison Hayman, and Caden Clark. Ruth will be remembered as a kind and loving soul, who was the quintessential homemaker. Ruth was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Church and was a member of the Altar Ladies for over 30 years. Ruth was also a member of the St. Bernard Homemakers Club. Ruth enjoyed sewing, making many outfits for her grandchildren, crafting, decorating cakes, gardening and watching her daily soap operas. She also greatly enjoyed attending classes and making friends at her local senior centers in both New Jersey and Maryland. Ruth will be sadly missed by her family and friends alike. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday December 12, 2020, begin at 12 p.m. Noon until 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass.
