Beverly Wiegand Donnelly died peacefully on January 8, 2021 at the age of 91. Married over 70 years to the late Edwin ‘Eddie’ M Donnelly, Sr., Beverly is survived by her four children, Kathleen Kaye (Lyndell) Henderson, Edwin M Donnelly, Jr. (Elizabeth), Denise D Farrell, and Teresa “Terri” Lamonte (Joseph), nine grandchildren, Jill Farrell, Shannon Hollingsworth, Heather Miller, Kristy Hobbs, Jesse Lamonte, Edwin Donnelly, III; L Dwaine Henderson, II; Amanda Moity and Shane Donnelly, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Beverly, a native of New Orleans raised in the Bunny Friend 9th ward neighborhood later moved to Chalmette where Eddie and she raised their children. Beverly worked for many years as St. Bernard Parish Civil Defense secretary before opening Carousel Nursery in Chalmette where the children and parents alike came to know her simply as “Grandmaw.” Upon retirement, she and Eddie moved to Columbia, MS, where they enjoyed the country style of life for more than 15 years before returning to Louisiana, settling in Lacombe to be closer to family. Beverly, a woman of many talents and interests, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidering, oil painting, gardening and collecting an array of items. She was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church choir. She was a rock and confidant to her family, and she loved sharing her talents and time with them. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Martha L and John J. Wiegand, Sr., as well as her brother John J. “Sonny” Wiegand, Jr. She will be dearly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61030 Brier Lake Dr., Lacombe, LA 70445. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please practice social distancing and wear a facial covering.
