Beautiful Marilyn Powell Godlewski peacefully met our heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was the beloved and adored wife of the late Joseph L. Powell and the late Edward F. Godlewski. Loving mother of Dawn P. Frommeyer (Gerard), Dustin Powell (Kelli) and Dayne Powell (Jamie). Daughter of the late James and Janell McQuary. She is survived and fondly remembered by several wonderful brothers and sisters. She adored, spoiled and worshipped her grandkids, Gerard Joseph, Jake Warren, Jillian Grace, Isabella “Izzy” Marie, Averi Rose and Bailee Colletta. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. Known to her nieces, nephews and cousins as B.A.M. “Beautiful Aunt Marilyn” to all others who knew her she said, “If you forgot my name, just call me Beautiful.” She was a good and loving servant, but became a faithful Catholic at St. Mark’s Church in Chalmette, LA and continued to practice her faith at St. Luke’s Church in Slidell, LA. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched with her love, kindness, laughter and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service in Marilyn’s memory beginning at 1 p.m. She will be laid to eternal rest with her beloved husband Joseph in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
