Robert “Bobby” Raymond DeJean, Sr

Robert “Bobby” Raymond DeJean, Sr., of Tickfaw, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his family’s home in Chalmette at the age of 77. Born in New Orleans, he served in the Army and the Army National Guard. He worked hard as a pile driver and welder, settling in Chalmette, where he raised his children and lived most of his life. Robert is predeceased by his parents Eugene DeJean, Sr., and Lillian Lane Munter; brothers Eugene DeJean and Leon “Dut” DeJean; brother-in-law Marvin “Red” Baudin; and grandson Joshua DeJean. He is survived by his siblings Louis “Pete” DeJean, Marsha Brown (John), and Deana Baudean; former wife Edna Carson Wiltz, and their children Elizabeth Cruz (Anthony), Robert DeJean Jr. (Katherine), and Michelle Risher (Scott); grandchildren Katherine Pitre (Terrance), Anthony Cruz III (Rachel), Nicole Taylor (Thomas), Madeline Davey, Justin DeJean, Christopher Holloway, Mallory Cruz, and Brett Risher; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Robert is also survived by his partner of 26 years, Donna M. Hall. We express our sincere gratitude to the Compassus Hospice staff who provided Bobby with comfort in his last days. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, on Saturday, January 30, 2021, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held in his memory at 1 p.m. Please be mindful that a mask must be worn, and social distancing must be observed, at all times while inside the funeral home.
