Paul Grose

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the calling of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our great Redeemer on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2021, at 6:38 a.m. At that time, Jesus sent a band of his angels to lift Paul, our youngest child, to be with Him in his Heavenly home, to the great mansion with many rooms. If this were not true, he would not have told us so. Fly high our beloved son, for you are now an angel of the Lord and finally free. Free from all the pain, struggles, and heartache you have gone through here on God’s own creation which we call the planet Earth. Your last known words were, “Mom, I love.” You also told her that you were free. When she asked you to repeat that, you told her, “I am finally free.” Yes, you are our beloved son, Paul. You are free at last. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen. Amen. Amen. Paul came into this world on the afternoon of March 21, 1980, at Methodist Hospital, in New Orleans East. It was the first full day of spring that year. He lived 99.99 percent of his life with his parents at their Meraux, LA, home in Cypress Gardens, except for when Katrina hit in August 2005. He so enjoyed his childhood with his siblings and all of the neighborhood children. Everyone was his friend and he loved and played hard. Paul was an intelligent child and adult and would go out of his way to give a helping hand to anyone in any way he could. He trusted and loved everyone. He would give you his last dime or the shirt off his back if need be. Paul passed away in his earthly home with his loving parents and brother-in-law nearby. He was not a person that liked being alone and did not want to die alone. He wanted to be near his family that he loved and who loved him. Deep down, he knew that he didn’t have very much time left here on earth. May he now be at peace and pain-free, in the arms of his loving Savior, Jesus Christ. It turned out to be a bright and sunny day the morning he left us, and if you looked into the sky that day, he seemed to be looking down, smiling on us saying, “I am happy, I am pain-free, and I am free at last, for as one of my tattoos said, “I am in His hands now.” Paul is survived by his loving parents, James David Grose and Mary Jo Pixley Grose; his siblings, James David Grose, Jr. and Patti Jo Grose Bene; his brother-in-law, Eugene C. Bene; nephew Aidan C. Grose; niece Mackenzie E. Grose; Godparents, Isabelle Pixley and Tony E. A. Grose, Sr.; and many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends that are too many to name here. Paul was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Daisy C. A. Nehlig Grose Breaux and Clarence F. Grose, Sr.; by his maternal grandparents, Mary V. Nunez Pixley and Willie E. Pixley; and by his step-grandparents, L. C. Breaux and Hazel N. Grose, and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Paul was also predeceased by his three pets he had during his lifetime, Puddles, Rajah, and Deuce. Puddles, Rajah, and Kahn (Patti and Gene’s dog) perished during evacuation for Hurricane Rita in Texas, on Thursday, September 22, 2005, due to 106-degree heat. Deuce passed away in 2018. A visitation will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2825 Paris Rd., in Chalmette, on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Sandra Barnes, will begin at 1 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, on Virtue Street, in Chalmette. Due to state and church guidelines for COVID-19, face coverings must be worn at all times. Attendance for the church service is limited to 58. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree, make donations in Paul’s name to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, any animal rescue organization or any charity of your choice.
