Virginia Gervais Hurstell, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Pearl River, LA, at the age of 98. Virginia was born on December 2, 1922 to the late Louis Gervais and Virginia Lawrence and was a longtime resident of Chalmette, LA and then Slidell, LA after Hurricane Katrina. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Laurence “Fritz” Hurstell and siblings , Theodora “Teddy” Hanley, Ernest Gervais, Eldrige Gervais, Lawrence Gervais and Nathan Gervais. She is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Ponthier (Kent) and Renee’ DiVincenti (Anthony); two grandchildren, Kerry Ponthier and Kimberly Ponthier (Ricky); six great-grandchildren, Brandon Ponthier (Ashley), Ashlin Hurst, Andrew Ponthier, Abby Ponthier, Desi Delgado and Grayson Robin. One Great-Great Grandson, Carter Ponthier. She will be greatly missed by her immediate family, nieces, nephews and loving friends. The family would like to thank Concerned Care Hospice, especially Gina Grady, April Brandt and Jancy Marshall. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette.
