David Michael Guttuso

David Michael Guttuso passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Born on January 20, 1961, in New Orleans, he grew up in Arabi, LA. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine Elementary School, and Holy Cross Middle School. He graduated with honors from Holy Cross High School in 1979. He was a four year varsity letterman for the Holy Cross baseball and football teams (1976-1979). He attended the Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He graduated from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1985, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Loescher Guttuso. Together they raised their daughter, Dr. Lindsay Kaye Guttuso Carr (Anthony). David enjoyed a successful 30-year career as a consultant electrical engineer, designing power systems for the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry, utilities industry, and commercial building industry. Through the years he was employed by Waldemar S. Nelson & Co., W.H. Linder and Associates (Jacobs), Albert Garaudy & Assoc, and Infinity Engineering, just to name a few. David was a man of the Catholic faith with a devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Holy Rosary. He was a Word War II history enthusiast, and a strong Conservative Republican. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and was dedicated to his family. David was preceded in death by his mother, Lily Rose Chutz. He is survived by his wife Linda Loescher Guttuso; his daughter, Dr. Lindsay Kaye Guttuso Carr; and his son-in-law Anthony Carr. He is also survived by his father Vincent S. Guttuso, Jr.; three brothers, Vincent S. Guttuso III, Michael G. Guttuso (Rhonda), Darren J. Guttuso; and his sister, Anne M. Martin (Richard). Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by a Memorial Mass in David’s memory beginning at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, The Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
