Jan Marie Kirby

Jan Marie Kirby, a native of Port Sulphur LA and a resident of Arabi, LA; was relieved of the troubles of her heart, brought out of her distress and afflictions, and had her sufferings ended (Ps. 25:17-18) on February 18, 2021 as a result of heart disease and a myriad of other medical conditions; at the age of 60. She is survived by her long-time companion, Bruce Hoffman; loving brother, John Edward Kirby (Lydia); nephew Matthew Kirby and his anticipated daughter as well as her nurturing aunt, Levi Catanese, and family. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Mason Kirby, Jr. (Virginia) and Nancy Rousselle Hill, her grandparents, Mason Kirby, Sr., and Elizabeth Evasovich Kirby, Clifford “Jim” Rousselle and Melba Treadway Rousselle, her brother, Mason Kirby, III, her caring uncle, Carroll Catanese, her cherished aunt and uncle Patsy and Pete Ansardi, and her niece Allyson Kirby. Jan graduated from John Ehret High School. She enjoyed excursions to casinos, reading, spending time with her family, and caring for her elderly and ill relatives. She was devoted to her pets, “Boy,” “Girl,” and “Princess.” The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Ochsner Medical Center, main campus for their professional, compassionate, and heartfelt care of Jan during her suffering. Due to the current pandemic the family held Jan’s funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23, Port Sulphur, LA 70083 on February 22, 2021. Interment: St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, Port Sulphur, LA. Masses or memorial contributions to St. Patrick Catholic Church preferred.
