Allen Lee Melancon, a decorated Veteran of the US Navy who proudly served his country, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 72. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Carol Licciardi Melancon. Loving father of Elizabeth Melancon, Keith Melancon (Simone), Gregory Melancon, Bradley Melancon and Merlin Abadie. Son of the late Joseph and Charlette Mascaro Melancon. Brother of the late Charles Melancon. Brother-in-law of Dixie Melancon. Proud grandfather of Lauren White, Kasey Melancon and Dustin Melancon. Uncle of Ray Melancon (Heather), Mikey Melancon, Jennifer Rusk (Jacob), Albert Burmaster (Michele), Kevin Burmaster (Lora), Vonda Palazzolo (Russell), Lance Licciardi and Mark Licciardi (Lori). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many cousins and dear friends. Allen was born in Alexandria, LA and was a current resident of St. Bernard Parish. He enjoyed a long career and retired as a Corridor Manager with Union Pacific Railroad. He also enjoyed a career with the Alexandria Police Department and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors.
