Althea Mary Kennedy of Chalmette, LA, passed away on December 13, 2021, at the age of 90. She was a native of New Orleans, LA, and born in 1931 to her parents, the late Edwina Zagamie and Joseph Burckel Sr. She was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Myron Kennedy Sr. and mother to four children: Karen, Kerry, Myron Jr., and Patrick. Althea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Karen Kennedy and Myron Kennedy Jr.; and one sibling, Catherine Anderson.She is survived by two siblings, Helen Armond and Joseph Burckel Jr.; children, Kerry Kennedy and Patrick Kennedy (Valerie); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and close friends. Althea was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School - Class of 1949. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church. Althea’s faith and her family were the center of her life. She also enjoyed dancing, watching old westerns, reading the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles, and gardening. Althea will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and funeral mass on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
