Mary Louise Miller Nikolaus

Mary Louise Miller Nikolaus of Meraux, LA, passed away on January 24, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91. She was born on December 11, 1930 in New Orleans, LA and moved to Meraux in 1965. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger A. Nikolaus; mother of Perry A. Nikolaus, Sandy C. Nikolaus Sr., Charles R. Nikolaus and the late Barry B. Nikolaus. She is survived by four grandchildren; Sandy C. Nikolaus Jr., Allaina N. Addison (Nathan), Justin G. Nikolaus, Olivia L. Anderson and one great-grandchild Liam Patrick Addison and her daughters in law; Charlene S. Nikolaus and Sommer L. Anderson. She was the best mother, grandmother and mother in law a family could be blessed with; her greatest pride and joy was her grandchildren. She always told everyone how good they all were to her throughout the years and how much they meant to her. She was absolutely overjoyed to learn she was going to be a great grandmother and Liam Patrick was the shining star in her heart. She was a kind person who treated everyone she knew as if they were her family. She was warmly referred to as Maw Maw by family, friends & neighbors. She was a true blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and she will be deeply missed by many. Miss Mary was employed at J.H. Rutter Rex Manufacturing Co. in New Orleans, LA for 50 years. She was a member of the St. Bernard Parish AARP. She loved to garden and her plants were always thriving and beautiful just as she was in life. She enjoyed having dinner every night with her son Perry who lived with her and took care of her. Her appreciation for him was immense. Miss Mary is also survived by two brothers George Miller and Robert Miller Sr. and her sister-in-law Adele Miller along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Eva Roberts Miller, her sisters; Gloria Lipari, Shirley Reyes, Eva Jessup, Patricia Welbrock and Gayle Sheppard, her brothers; John Miller and Charles Miller Sr. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister in law Gloria Hankel and her brother in law Charles W. Hankel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service in Mary’s memory beginning at 1 p.m. Interment: St. Roch Cemetery No. 2, New Orleans, LA.
