Thomas Ray Cobb of Hammond, LA, went to his new home with the Lord on January 28, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born to parents William Coleman Cobbs and Pearly Naomi Early Cobbs, on October 16, 1936 in Pleasant Hill, LA. At age 16, Thomas surrendered his life to the Gospel ministry. After serving in the United States Navy as a Medic and then in the Reserves, he entered Louisiana College in 1957. There he met Lillie Leona Bright and they were married in 1958. Together, they had three daughters. Thomas was ordained as a Baptist Minister by College Drive Baptist Church, Pineville, LA in 1960. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana College. He received his Master of Theology degree and his Doctorate in Psychological Counseling and Pastoral Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Thomas's pastorates included Lakeside Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Chalmette, Barron Road Baptist Church and Amiable Baptist Church. He was interim pastor at over 24 churches including First Baptist Church of Hammond, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Wardline Baptist Church, Satsuma Baptist Church and many others. He retired from the Louisiana Baptist Convention. He was former Director of the Baptist Student Missions (formerly BSU) at Nicholls State University and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a former member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Thomas is survived by his sister Betty Cobbs Davis, brother Ronald Patrick Cobbs (Linda), his daughters and sons-in-law Marcia Rae Cobb, Daphne Cobb and Richard Galloway, Lydia Cobb and Henry Price, his grandson- and granddaughter-in-law Christopher Thomas and Ashley Galloway, great-granddaughter Riley Kate Galloway and his wife Jeanine Ostarly Cobb along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lillie Leona Bright Cobb, his parents William and Naomi Cobbs, his brother William Marcell Cobbs (Delores), his sister Rachel Cobbs Owens (R.L.) and his brother-in-law Jimmy Davis. Relatives attended a private family burial held on February 1, 2022 at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond, LA. Officiant: Pastor Jeff Robinson, First Baptist Church of Hammond. Arrangements were entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
