Emile Louis Schenck entered his heavenly rest on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the age of 82. He was a native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of Arabi, and currently a resident of Hammond. Emile was a gentle caring husband who was married 59 years to the love of his life, Dolores “Susie” Rodriguez Schenck. He was always a gentleman who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; from staying up all night rocking the babies, to those memorable grocery trips where the kids looked forward to the surprise treats that “jumped in the bag.” Emile provided for his family working long hours as a Chemist-Analyst for Domino Sugar Refinery where he ultimately retired after 47 years. He was an extremely loving man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5747 in Chalmette and also a 4th Degree Knight. Emile was a Founding Member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Arabi, where he resided for 42 years. Following Hurricane Katrina, he relocated to Hammond and is a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Emile is survived by his loving wife Dolores “Susie” Rodriguez Schenck; daughters Terri Carlise, Kim Algero (Joseph), and Brandi Torres (Kevin); son Gregg Schenck (Phyllis); grandchildren Scott Carlise (Kristin), Lindsey Driscoll (Cory), Brittany, Kristen, Rebecca, Cameron and Briana Algero, Matthew Schenck (Stephanie), Hunter and Connor Torres; great-grandchildren Brantley Carlise, Sophia Driscoll, and Brooklyn Carlise who’s due in October; brother Ernest Schenck (Pat); and sister Edna Schenck Rohde (Ed). Emile was preceded in death by his parents Emile and Rose Schenck, sister Catherine Schenck, and his son-in-law Robert Carlise. Relatives, friends of the family and member of the K of C Council 5747 are invited to attend a visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 9 a.m. and continues until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Father Cayet Mangiaracina will officiate.
