Felix Earl Arceneaux, Jr. passed away on September 6, 2017 at his home. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Carolyn Catalano Arceneaux. He is survived by his two sons, Felix Earl Arceneaux, lll (Sandra), Louis Arceneaux, Sr. (Josie), his daughter Brenda Arceneaux and his dear friend, Barbara E. Meyer. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law Stephen and Cynthia Arceneaux; and Robert and JoAnn Arceneaux; grandchildren Louis Jr., Frank Wayne and Christopher Earl (Brittney) Arceneaux, Michael (Miranda), Sean and Tim Moran (Brandy), Kelly Robin (Renee), Jessica Dalon (Brad), Tracy Smith (Todd) and Amy Vappie (Renan); his 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored. Felix is also preceded in death by his parents, Felix E. Arceneaux, Sr. & Lillian B. Arceneaux, his dear brother Daniel Arceneaux and sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Carver Arceneaux. Born in New Orleans, LA on April 7, 1933, he was the eldest of four children, grew up in the Bywater neighborhood and attended St. Aloysius High School, where he was in the ROTC. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after eight years, serving on the USS LST-1069 during the Korean War as an electronics technician. He retired after 30 plus years from Tenneco Refinery, after working his way up to a management position. As anyone who knew Felix can attest, he was a very proud, generous, kind, and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and never came home with an empty ice chest. Felix spent many years mentoring his sons and grandchildren, and sharing his special fishing spots and his own “special” techniques. ln lieu of flowers, donations to the American Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Felix E. Arceneaux Jr. at www.alz.org are greatly appreciated. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and a funeral mass held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was laid to rest with military honors in St. Vincent Cemetery No. 2, 1401 Louisa St., New Orleans, LA.
