Geraldine “Gerry” Frisard Lopinto passed away September 18, 2017 in Baton Rouge at the age of 84. She was born on May 7, 1933 in New Orleans. She was in the restaurant business for over 30 years in St. Bernard Parish and a full time employee of the St. Bernard Sheriff ’s Department. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. And of course, she loved fresh coffee. She is survived by her son Frank A. Lopinto, Jr. and wife Jeanne; daughter Barbara Cocchiara and husband Jay; son Colonel Michael J. Lopinto and wife Anne; daughter Brenda Carbajal and husband Nicky; daughter Tina Schexnaydre and husband Guy; grandchildren Christina Cocchiara Slager and husband Daniel, Catherine Cocchiara, Nicholas Carbajal, Andrew Carbajal, Dylan Schexnaydre, Madeline Schexnaydre, Molly Lopinto, Francesca Lopinto, Dean Schexnaydre and Beau Lopinto; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Teddy and Vera Slager; brother Jules Frisard, Jr. and sister-in-law Clara. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Lopinto, Sr.; parents Jules and Tena Frisard; and to brothers, Donald and Ronald Frisard. Visitation was held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Leitz-Eagen Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, before the service. Interment followed at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Old Jefferson Community Care Center.
