Ronald Alfred Ohlsen died on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the age of 97. He was born on May 6, 1920, in California. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ethel McGovern Ohlsen. Ronald was born in San Francisco County, California, and is the son of the late Alfred Ohlsen and the late Lily Yocam Ohlsen of California. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Daniel Philip McGovern, Robert McGovern, Michael McGovern, John F. McGovern, George E. McGovern, Jr., Mary E. McGovern Ohlsen, Myrle E. Mcgovern LeViere Barco, and Dorothy McGovern Millet. He was a resident of New Orleans, LA for many years. He moved to Carriere, MS, around in 1968, then to Arabi, LA in 1985. He finally settled in Perkinston, MS (West of Wiggins, MS) after hurricane Katrina in 2005. Ronald was a proud World War II veteran, and first responder. He retired from the New Orleans Fire Department at the rank of Captain. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., in Chalmette.
