Albert “Al” Keller passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, Linwood and Adam Keller. He resided in Chalmette, LA. Al was in the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he married Marie Champagne and they had two sons: Ronnie and Glenn. Al is survived by his grandchildren Aaron, Jennifer and Sean. Al loved working as a switchman for Southern Railroad. He also built a camp with his sons and loved being on the water. Subsequent to Marie’s death in 1986, Al remarried Val Schmidt, who later passed away in 2013. Val’s family included Patrice Rother, Yvonne Weaver and her grandchildren Dooney (Tracie), Heidi, Glen, Tassie and Melvin, whom were a big part of Al’s life. They loved him and made him a part of their family. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, cousins and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to Colonial Living Center and Julia with Hospice Associates for their compassionate care Al received. Relatives and friends of the family attended the Memorial Service on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA.
