Terry Joseph Langkopp passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jennifer, and his three children Rachel, Matthew and Nicholas. He is also survived by his in-laws, Barbara Baker Battistella (Leo), Michael Baker and Myles Kearny as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maryann, his parents Adele Strecker and John F. Langkopp, Jr. as well as his sisters, Joan L. Myers and Linda L. Jones and his in-laws Althea and Melvin Baker. Terry was born in New Orleans and grew up in St. Bernard, graduating from Chalmette High School and then Southeastern Louisiana University. After college he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he liked to say he successfully protected New Jersey from invasion. After the Army, Terry and Jennifer moved back home to Arabi and started their family. After transitioning from a career in the shipping industry to his ultimate career with the Internal Revenue Service, he ended his 34 years as a Computer Specialist, just retiring in October. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He coached football and baseball at Carolyn Park Playground and was an active member of the St. Robert Bellarmine Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. After Hurricane Katrina he relocated to Destrehan where he belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Parish, attending mass regularly until he became ill. The family would like to thank our many prayer warriors, especially Barbara B. Battistella, Lisa Trigo and Tommy Savarino for their constant and faithful spiritual support. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, LA at 10 a.m.
