Betty Ruth Waffenschmidt McCloskey passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 86. Betty joins her treasured parents, Evelyn M. Waffenschmidt and Edward A. Waffenschmidt and beloved husband James J. McCloskey, Jr. who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Janet McNamara; her children, Maura Keaton (Jim), Mark McCloskey and Patrick McCloskey; her grandchildren, Kristen Fuhrmann (Ryan), Ryan Keaton, Mallory McCloskey, Mitch McCloskey (Rachel) and Michele McCloskey and her great grandchildren, Logan, Cason and Carlynn Fuhrmann and Hannah and Connor McCloskey. Born March 6, 1932 in New Orleans, LA, Betty graduated from Eleanor McMain High School and attended LSU where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She lived in New Orleans, Arabi, Algiers, Bogalusa, Chalmette and lastly, Harahan where she lived for 45 years. Betty was a compassionate giver of her time, herself, and her belongings. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A visitation and services were held on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA, and interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
