Evelyn Louise Taylor Matherne passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the age of 68. She was the cherished wife of the late Eunice J. Matherne. Loving mother of Jimmey Bouffine Jr (Lisa), Penny Buffington (Steve), Cheryl Naquin (Wayne) and Amanda Demary (Danny). Daughter of the late John and Lena Broussard Taylor. Sister of Marie Taylor, Theresa Nunez, Barbara Cashman (Terry), Troy Taylor (Tiffany) and the late Shirley Wheat and Brenda Nicolosi. Proud grandmother of Samantha Bouffine, Savannah Bouffine, Ryan LaJoie, Kory LaJoie, Brooklyn Demary, Wayne Naquin Jr., Brandon Naquin, Courtney Naquin, Steven Buffington Jr., Mitchell Buffington and the late Jason Buffington. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Evelyn was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she enjoyed a long career as a Nursing Assistant and a devoted member of the Eastern Star. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Her fondness of her trips to the casino was surpassed only by her love for her grandchildren. Evelyn will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. Relatives and friends attended a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, July 26, 2018, followed by a funeral service in her memory beginning afterward. She was laid to rest with her beloved husband in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
