Imelda Rosemary Larsen Brubaker passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018 at age 89. She was born on March 28, 1929 in New Orleans, LA, and lived most of her life in Chalmette, LA. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, John Preston Brubaker Sr., her father, Thomas F. Larsen, her mother, Lillian Klein Larsen, her two sisters, Mildred Larsen Decle and Lillian Larsen Hebert, as well as her sons, Stephen and Patrick Brubaker and her granddaughter, Tammi Brubaker. She is survived by her children, John Jr. (Sylvia), David (Vicki), Michael, Judith (Ray Leroux), and Cynthia (Frank/Jay Kraus), as well as 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She graduated class valedictorian from St. Joseph Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a lifelong homemaker, a loving wife and a loving mother. She also loved the sport of bowling and was an active league bowler every week until the age of 84. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering in Imelda’s honor at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Road, in Chalmette, on Friday, August 17, 2018, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest, in a private service, in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
