George “Ching” Ernest Lopezpeacefully went to be with ourHeavenly Father on Saturday,September 22, 2018 at the age of 87.His greatest love was his family. Hewas preceded in death by his fatherFrank Lopez, his mother CecileRodriguez Lopez and siblings Joseph, Woodrow,Andrew, John, Frank Jr. and Marie. He was the belovedhusband of 66 years to Billie Ann Magee Lopez. Georgeand Billie met at Southeastern College and began asteady friendship until their early marriage. He had agreat love and devotion for his children Ronnie Lopez(Leslie), Rodney Lopez (Rhonda), Russell Lopez, AngelaLopez and the late Stephen Lopez. George was the proudgrandfather of Nicole Lopez, Amanda Lopez (Haley),Rodney Lopez Jr. (Deanna), Shane Quirk (Chelsey),Billie-Ann Reed (Blaine, Katie-Marie Lopez, WilliamLopez, Stephen Lopez Jr. (Michelle), Brad Morales(Suzanne), Pam Morales, Michael Morales and JonathanBartholomew. His great grandchildren are BlakeLopez, Destiny Bartholomew, Jonathan BartholomewJr., Landon Bartholomew, Laina Lopez, Scarlett Lopez,Stephen Lopez III, Madelynn Lopez, Mia Morales andSavanah Morales. He was also blessed with his great greatgrandchild Carter Lopez. George was also loved by manynieces and nephews; Woody, Andrew Jr., Jeanne, Terri,David, Elizabeth, Laurie, Michael, Patrick, Kevin, Kelly,Kim, Denise and the late Juanita. Ching was a lifelongresident of St. Bernard Parish where he had a long careerwith Western Auto. He also served as a commissionerwith the Lake Borgne Levee District where he becamePresident until the position was dissolved after HurricaneKatrina. His favorite pastimes were fishing on the watersof Delacroix Island and cheering on the LSU Tigers. Hewill be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to hisfamily and friends and will be deeply missed by all thosewhose lives he touched. We have been thankful for allthe doctors, home health, Ochsner Medical Center, St.Bernard Parish Hospital, Notre Dame Hospice and allthe friends who have been so supportive and most of allthe support from our wonderful loving family. In lieu offlowers memorial gifts and masses may be made to OurLady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Violet, LA. Relativesand friends attended a visitation held at Our Lady OfLourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd., Violet,LA on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, where a funeralmass followed.
