Nella Dolci Nothaft

Nella Dolci Nothaft of Desenzano, Italy, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, at the age of 84. she is preceded in death by her parents Santo and Maximilla Breciani Dolci, and her husband, Alfred R. Nothaft. She met and fell in love with her husband in Switzerland. There, they were married and immigrated to the United States and became citizens in March of 1962. She was a skilled seamstress. She and Fred are best remembered as the operators of the first Chick-Fil-A in the Plaza Shopping Mall (New Orleans East). She is survived by her three children: Silvia (Jules) Bolden, Linda (Robert) Brousse and Alfred E. (Kelly) Nothaft. She had six grandchildren: Matthew Bolden, Melissa (Jared) Morris, Brandon and Rachel Brousse, and Kaitlyn and Mason Nothaft. It was her great loss to miss meeting her two great-grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Memory Care and Notre Dame Hospice for making her final dates filled with faith, dignity and grace. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12 noon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests be sent to either Notre Dame Hospice, 1000 Howard Ave., 10th Floor, New Orleans, LA 70113, or St. Joseph Abbey and Seminary, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457.
