Billy Morris Gibson passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of Carole Alexis Gibson. Devoted father of Rhonda Alexis, Russell Alexis (Judy), Reed Alexis (Evelyn), Renee Marino (Paul), and Ruth Bosarge (Tracy). Beloved grandfather of Jenna Gibson, Billy Ray Gibson, Jr., Stewart Alexis (Suzie), Christina Van Zant (Jacob), Paul Marino, and Michael Bosarge. Great-grandfather of Luka Gibson, Mae Alexis, Cammie Van Zant, and Kendall Van Zant. He also leaves behind his dear nephew, Allen Armond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Nancy Morris Gibson, his dear wife Ray Terminie and his cherished son, Billy Ray Gibson. Billy was born in Berry, AL, and moved to New Orleans at the age of 12. He graduated from Nicholls High School, and worked for Murphy Oil Refinery until his retirement. He was a resident of Chalmette before relocating to Harahan after Hurricane Katrina. Billy was much loved and will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the medical professionals who were instrumental in Billy’s care over his last days, especially his “angels,” Kicia, Dede and Debra; his nurses, Nickie, Lisette and Michelle, and Reverend Jim, who was a steady source of comfort. Relatives and friends attended a graveside service to be held in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, where he was laid to rest.
