Mrs. Patricia ‘Patti’ Susan Dewailly Satterlee passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 following a long battle with cancer at the age of 67. She was born in New Orleans, LA, attended Archbishop Chapelle High School and The University of New Orleans earning a B.S. and M.S. in Education, and was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club and volunteered in various committees in St. Bernard Parish. She had a fulfilling 35 year career as a Social Studies and History teacher for the St. Bernard Parish School Board and the Louisiana Department of Education. She was a voracious reader and an amazing cook. She was a kind and gracious person who loved caring for those around her. Most importantly, she was loving and devoted to her family. Patricia is preceded in death by her father, Edmund Louis Dewailly, Sr., and her sister, Vicki Dewailly Abernethy. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gerard Sheldon Satterlee, Jr.; her mother, Adeline Bordelon Dewailly; her daughters, Melanie Becnel Broga (Jonathan), Amy Satterlee Trahan (Joseph), and Windy Satterlee Rachal (Christopher); her grandchildren, Ellery, Haley and Avery Broga; Sophia and Sydney Trahan; and Nathan and Eleanor Rachal. She is also survived by her brother, Edmund Louis Dewailly, Jr. and her sister Terri Dewailly Mogharrebi (Farhad); nephews Cole Mogharrebi, Mark Rodney Smith, Jr. (Jen Tomchak), Stephen Michael Smith (Elise), and their children ; Ethan and Wesley Smith; and Audrey and Vivienne Smith. Visitation was held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124, celebrated by Father Robert Cooper of St. Benilde Catholic Church. A graveside service followed the visitation and took place in Metairie Cemetery.
