Albert “Al” Keller passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, Linwood and Adam Keller. He resided in Chalmette, LA. Al was in the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he married Marie Champagne and they had two sons: Ronnie and Glenn. Al is survived by his grandchildren Aaron, Jennifer and Sean. Al loved working as a switchman for Southern Railroad. He also built a camp with his sons and loved being on the water. Subsequent to Marie’s death in 1986, Al remarried Val Schmidt, who later passed away in 2013. Val’s family included Patrice Rother, Yvonne Weaver and her grandchildren Dooney (Tracie), Heidi, Glen, Tassie and Melvin, whom were a big part of Al’s life. They loved him and made him a part of their family. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Anthony “Boo” Schiro passed away at 4:33 AM on April 10, 2018 at Ochsner Medical Center where he was diagnosed with Liver Cancer, but ultimately died from Kidney Cancer complications. He was 49 years old. Beloved son of Frank and Linda Schiro. Loving father of David and Andrew Schiro. He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen Schiro, and his grandparents Annie and Joseph Schiro, Virginia Ledford and Alvin Haralson. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. Anthony was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, and graduated from Chalmette High School in 1986. He served in the Army National Guard as a Medic before completing 3 years of college. Later in life, he was a Linesman for Cooper T. Smith, and also worked as an Electrician. Giuseppina Carsidona Miserendino passed away at her home on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of the late Calogero Miserendino for 50 years. Jacqueline “Sweet” Richards Navo entered eternal peace on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, with complications from lung cancer at the age of 76. She was born on January 9, 1942. Beloved wife of 58 years to Melvin P. Navo, Jr. Daughter of the late Theresa Ditta Richards and the late Daniel Olsen Richards. Sister of the late Rosalie Richards Papania. Beloved mother and proud parent of five children. Lisa Navo Schehr, Melvin P. Navo III (Bridget), Mark D. Navo Sr. , Melissa Navo Piehet (Alex) and Jacquelyn Navo Dukes (Timothy). Sweet also had 8 grandchildren: Mark Schehr Jr., Rachel Navo Fonseca (Brian), Heather Piehet Morris (Joshua), Allie Piehet, Megan Navo, Mark D. Navo, Jr., Brianna Dukes and Brittan Dukes. She also had 6 great-grandchildren: Baileigh Morris, Ian Schehr, Addyson Morris, Mikayla Fonseca, Landon Fonseca , and Isabella Schehr. She was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 53 years, until Hurricane Katrina. Lived in Slidell, La. for the past 12 years. Sweet was always a compassionate and gracious lady, known to always put her children first. She was immensely loved by all who knew her. Sweet worked for many years at Jake’s Palace in Chalmette and at Chateau De Notre Dame in New Orleans. After 19 plus years of coaching girls sports teams at Borgnemouth Athletic Club in Meraux, many championship teams were formed . She was always ready with a kind and supportive word for all the girls. Sweet will be dearly missed by all those that loved her, family and friends especially. In 1976, he embarked on a joint venture to open Tim’s Marine, Inc., before branching off on his own to open Custom Boat Mfg, Inc., in 1990. He took great pride in his work, and through the years, built up a solid and loyal customer base. He was also a member of many clubs and organizations in St. Bernard Parish. Joyce Ann Doran Gioe, a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Chalmette, LA, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 while surrounded by all of her family at the age of 82. She was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and was the co-owner and operator of Burns Tax Agency for more than 30 years. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her friends, but family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, gardening and cross stitching, especially for her great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Carlo “Bucky” Gioe; children, Harry (Connie) Gioe, Barry (Cindy) Gioe, and Lori (Randy) Cauthen; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Gioe, Collin Cauthen, Cassidy (Helene) Cauthen, Jene’ Gioe, Tyler (Ashley) Gioe, and Courtney Cauthen; two step-grandchildren, Andrew (Hillary) Ellender and Caroline (Shane) Garnett; four great-grandchildren, Haylee Gioe, Ronnie Hebert, Jr., Kaia Beydoun and Nash Gioe; and one step great- grandchild, Amelia Garnett. She also leaves behind numerous close members of the Gioe and Prestenback families. Michael A. Hueschen passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife Lois Matthews Hueschen and shared 52 wonderful years together. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Michael was born in born in New Orleans, LA on January 26, 1940 and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 40 years. He graduated from Nichols High School and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1958 where he proudly served for 8 years. He was a talented carpenter and worked in the construction industry until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Slidell, LA, Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Chalmette, LA, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Poplarville, MS, Knights of Columbus Council No. 15121, Poplarville, MS, Rummel Knights of Columbus Council No. 5747 and Knights of Columbus Council No. 23732. He enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, restoration of antique vehicles, watching sports, especially the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, and spending time with his family. Harold “H.J. / Ace” Jacob Lind, Jr., born July 4, 1931, passed away on April 21, 2018 at the age of 86. He was the beloved son of Harold J. Lind, Sr. and Mary Plaisance Lind who preceded him in death. H.J. was married to the late June Torres Lind for 38 years. He was a resident of Poydras, LA until Hurricane Katrina and was a current resident of Slidell. He is survived by his children and their spouses Darla Lind Morales (Paul Morales, III) and Harold J. Lind, III (Heike McCormick Lind), his grandchildren Paul Morales, IV, Michelle Morales, Clayton Lind and Caleb Lind. He is survived by his brother Carlos Lind (Donna), his sister-in-law Lena Torres (the late Sidney) and his brother-in-law Robert Torres, Sr. (the late Mertye and Anita). He was preceded in death by his sister Gayle Lind Tamor (Walter), his sister-in-laws Helen Torres Bergeron (Roland-R.J.) and Ruth Torres Crespo (Roman). H.J. had many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members. He will be fondly remembered by his dear friends Janet Hager and Patsy Romero and many others. H.J. served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1958. He retired from Southern Natural Gas Company, Toca after 35 years of service. He loved to travel, eating out, working on his crossword puzzles, assembling jigsaw puzzles, watching old TV programs and was an excellent carpenter. He was enthralled by the amazing technology of “Google” and always asking to search for someone or something. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and reading the newspaper, especially the sports page. The St. Bernard News was her favorite local paper. She followed sports regularly and was an avid LSU, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Cubs fan. She played third base for many years with the CYO cabbage ball league at St. Maurice Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA. Gloria retired from Kaiser Aluminum as a key punch operator after 20 years of dedicated service. Carolyn LaFrance Twohig passed away in her home on the morning of Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age of 77. She was born in New Orleans on April 29, 1940 to Helena Dufrene LaFrance and Sidney P. LaFrance and is one of four children. In 1958, she married her husband of 60 years, Andrew “Andy” Twohig, of New Orleans. Her interests included spending time and traveling with good friends. Her favorite places include Mexico and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed spending her Sunday’s at the Beau Rivage. A homemaker at heart, she had a passion for entertaining and creating memorable experiences for those she loved. Her signature event included an annual neighborhood Christmas Party where she ensured everyone in attendance received a gift. She is survived by her beloved husband; daughter, Donna Twohig, son, Andrew Twohig III, her grandchildren, Andrew Twohig, IV and Jonathon Twohig, her great-granddaughter, Kinsington Everly Twohig, and her sister, Grace M. Christopher Michael Morales entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in New Orleans, LA at the age of 40. Christopher was born in New Orleans, LA. on July 19, 1977 to Charles Joseph and Sandra (Galan) Morales. Christopher was an avid Saints fan loving every winning season. His greatest excitement was becoming an uncle. Christopher was an expert painter which includes custom painting airplanes, pumping stations, and other specialty structures. He leaves to cherish his memory, grand-mothers Zoila Galan and Verna Morales; sisters Jennifer Morales (Gregory Browne-Nichols), Alyssa Morales and Addie Morales; brother Ashton Morales; nieces Alessandra and Gloriana; uncle Leonard Morales. Teresa Marie Ready passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the age of 51. She was the beloved daughter of Mary W. San Marco and the late Christopher San Marco, Sr. Loving mother of Mary Elizabeth Ready. Loving wife of the late Darrell A. Ready. Sister of Christopher San Marco, Jr. (Wendy). Step-mother of Victoria Ready Martinez (Omar). Daughter-in-law of Alton and Annie Hill Ready. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Dominick and Conchetta San Marco, and Geraldine Hazel Mathews and Clinton Lewis Mathews. She was the niece of Joseph S. San Marco, Shirley White, Gerry Leva, and Robert L. Mathews. Cousin of Joey DiFatta, Jr., and Phillip James DiFatta (Lynette). She also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Teresa was a student at St. Peter and Paul Grammar School, before attending and graduating from Mt. Carmel in 1984. She received her LPN licensure from Elaine P. Nunez, and was dedicated to caring for her patients at Trinity Hospital, in Slidell. He was a proud Lead Poll Commissioner, and was a member of the Krewe of Shangri-La, as well as the Krewe of Lourdes, in Chalmette.
