Patricia Ann Perniciaro Owens passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the age of 78. She was the cherished wife of the late Chester Granville Owens. Loving mother of Gina Owens Arceneaux (Carl), Mark Owens Sr., Samuel Owens Sr. (Terry) and Lisa Owens. Daughter of the late Frances Loscuito Perniciaro and Samuel Perniciaro. Sister of Anna Perniciaro Kerr (the late Gerald), Jerome Perniciaro (Gerry) and the late Neville McCord (the late Sue). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and especially her beloved granddaughter that she raised as her own, Beth Owens Moore (Bubba). Patricia was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Chalmette for over 50 years (and an Army wife for over 20 years), where she proudly earned her EMT license at the age of 50 and enjoyed a long career as an EMT and 911 Dispatcher with Priority EMS in St. Bernard. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Patricia will always be remembered for her loyalty & dedication to her family and her caring & loving spirit. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Joseph Dominic Provenzano, Sr. passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 97. He was the devoted husband of Verna Ferguson Provenzano, for over 74 years. Loving father of Joseph D. Provenzano, Jr. Grandfather of Brian Provezano, Wendy Ogle, Keri Domingo, and Luke Joseph Marengo. Great-grandfather of Wade and Kalie Domingo. Brother of Bob Provenzano and Carol Sigur. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Caroline Romano Provenzano, and the late Joseph Provenzano; by his daughter, the late Jane P. Quitman “Que” Riley Johnson was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the age of 63. Quitman was the beloved husband of Sandra S. Johnson and father of Kisha Nicole and Quitman Leonard Johnson, Sr. He was the grandfather of Brooklyn and Quitman Johnson, Jr. Quitman was the son of the late Samuel and Sarah M. Williams Johnson; Brother to Samuel “Mickey” Johnson, Sr. (Diane), James “Jimmy” Johnson, Sr. (Pastor Berridel Jefferson Johnson) and the late Jacquelyn “Jackie” and Mimia Johnson; Brother-in-law of Beverly O. Sanchez and Andria M. Ware; Uncle to Treasa J. Norman (Tyrone), Larry G. Johnson, Jr., James Johnson, Jr.(Larhonda), Samuel Johnson, Jr., JaKeya Ware and JaVonda N. Ware; Nephew of Sophie W. Patrick Michael Kent, tragically and unexpectedly lost at sea on or around June 10, 2019 at the age of 70. Pat was preceded in death by his father, Raymond August Kent; mother Marjorie Breaux Kent Triche; sister Sharon Kent Hubbel Roberts. Pat is survived by his sister Pamela White Callaway and previous partner Melissa Maloney. Loving uncle to Lindsay W. Dugas (Michael Dugas), Savannah and Dakota Dugas, Stephanie W. Callaway, and Ayden and Ashtyn Campo. His loss is mourned by his aunt Mary Breaux, cousins and his beloved partner Karen Blake. Pat was born August 5, 1948 and raised in the New Orleans 9th Ward. He attended St. Maurice Catholic School, graduated from Chalmette High School and earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Moving to Uptown New Orleans, he worked as manager of the St. Bernard Substance Abuse Clinic then moved to St. Tammany to become manager of Northlake Addictive Disorder Clinic. In 1988, he was appointed regional director of the Region 9 Office of Addictive Disorders by the LA State Dept. of Health and Hospitals. Pat was instrumental in bringing several beneficial programs to Region 9: Intensive Outpatient Programs, The Drug Court Program, The Outreach Program and Gambling Services. He wrote the bill for Region 9 to become an autonomous entity and bringing advanced techniques utilizing Gestalt Therapy to his staff. Pat was loved and respected by all who knew him. Pat was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed and fostered conversations and philosophical discussions with everyone on the open wrap-around porch of his home. His desire to help people and his “open door policy” encouraged anyone to visit. Pat was a dedicated sailor, whose passion for sailing took him all over the Caribbean. He loved the sea and loved sailing with friends, often returning to his favorite place in the world, Belize. He loved life, family and friends. He was a very caring son, a wonderful brother, adoring uncle and great friend. He was blessed in having spent a lifetime enjoying doing what he loved, and he will be missed by all who had the privilege of calling him FRIEND. A Celebration of Life is planned for September 21, 2019 from 3-6 p.m. at 224 Lamarque Street, Mandeville.

Joycelyn Mozier Kimball passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the age of 73. She was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Mother of Jason Anthony Lobo, Jared John Osterhold and the late Jerry Anthony Johnson. Grandmother of Rex Osterhold and Merari Lobo. Daughter of the late Earl John Mozier, Sr. and the late Joyce Chevoulleau Cantrell Pino. Stepdaughter of the late Thomas “Bill” Pino. Mary Theresa Wehl Breaux passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the age of 91. She was born in New Orleans to the late Josephine “Momma Wehl” Denina Wehl and Arthur Wehl. Beloved wife of almost 60 years to the late Jack James Breaux, Sr.; loving mother of Aaron Breaux (Melony), Darryl Breaux (Denise), and Jack Breaux, Jr. (Erin.) Proud grandmother to Adam Breaux, Renee Breaux Palmisano, Evan Breaux and Kara Breaux McGuire; great-grandmother to Hunter and Hudson Blum, Ava Held and Eleanor McGuire. Devoted sister of the late Evelyn Vulevich, Josephine “Josie” Simmons, Pearl Liberto, Carmen “Joan” Daigre and Anthony “Bubba” Wehl. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was born and raised in Uptown New Orleans. Upon marrying, she and Jack moved to the 9th Ward, and shortly thereafter built and made their home in Arabi, LA. After Katrina, Mary and Jack left Arabi where they had raised their family and moved to Covington, LA. Mary loved reading, music, dancing and was always ready for the next party. Her greatest pleasure was cooking and entertaining her family (parents, husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws) and friends around the dining room table. Floristina Maria Guerra Calabresi, known to all who loved her as Flora, entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2019 at the age of 68. Flora was born October 20, 1950, married to Anthony W. (Tony) Calabresi for 47 years, and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard. Flora retired from BellSouth’s Treasury Cashier’s Department. She loved spending time at her sanctuary in Woodville, MS, loved photography, gardening and her cats. Flora is preceded in death by her parents, Fabriciano Guerra & Cecilia Molero Guerra, her brother Jerry Guerra (Irma) and her sister Betsy G. LeBouef (Bud). She is survived by her husband, Tony, her brother Bruce M. Guerra, Sr. (Cynthia), son, Anthony R. Calabresi (Lorraine), grandchildren, Colin and Cambre Calabresi, numerous generations of nieces & nephews, and friends more numerous than the stars. Elsie “Dee” Cullen Celestin was called peacefully to heaven on September 6, 2019 at the age of 95. She is survived by one son, Michael and his wife, Toni and one daughter, Dona and her husband Fred McDougall. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Naomi Celestin, Joe Belmonte and Scott McDougall (Whitney), and two great grandchildren, Amiel Robinson and Austen Belmonte. Preceded in death by eight siblings, Mary “Annie” Juneau (Ivy), Mabel Redmon (Al), Velma Turner (Edly), Zula Goodwin (Cliff), Eric “Buddy” Cullen (Connie), Curtis Cullen (Doris), Joseph “Frizz” E. Cullens, Sr. (Virginia), Roberta Favaron (Tony). Loving Aunt to several generations of nieces and nephews. She was born on September 8, 1923 in Evergreen, Louisiana to the late Dave and Elodie Cullen. After graduating in 1941 from Shady Grove High School near Rosedale, LA, she moved to New Orleans and was employed by Woolworths on Canal Street where she managed the record counter. She was married to the late Jack Henry Celestin for 37 years. As a resident of St. Bernard parish and parishioner of St. Louise de Marillac for 56 years prior to Hurricane Katrina, her life was dedicated to caring for her family and friends. Cooking, gardening and reading were among her favorite hobbies. She also loved music and was always singing and whistling tunes while working around the house and in the garden. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care given by Egan Hospice. Raymond “Ray” Deffes, Sr. of Folsom, LA, left this earth on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the age of 59. Born to Romain (RJ) and Gloria, May 14, 1960 in Albany, GA, a Marine Corps Captain’s beautiful boy. Ray, his sister and mother would travel the world following their Marine they dearly called Dad, eventually settling back to home, Chalmette LA. Ray grew up to become one of the finest examples of a human being: honest, loyal and ever loving. He always made friends no matter where he went. He fought hard against his heart disease as he wanted so badly to “just enjoy life with his family”; a man who loved life for all that it was. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Brandy; two wonderful sons Raymond (Ashley) and Dustin (Fallon) and three grandchildren; sister Peggy (Jeff) Gunther; Mother in law Jo Lewis and sister in law Summer Alexander; two nephews and two nieces; as well as many from the Marine Corps family. Marie F. Duhon passed on to eternal life on September 14, 2019, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Duhon and her great-granddaughter, Amanda Duhon. She is survived by her brother Henry Fleetwood, Jr. (Mary) and sister, Lorraine Von Behren (Karl). Marie was a loving mother to Michael S. Duhon (Nancy) and Robert W. Duhon (Susan). She will always be remembered by her adoring grandchildren: Michael S. Duhnon, Jr. (Rebecca), Samantha D. McCandless (Eric), and Christopher S. Duhon (Sommer). Marie will be forever missed by her great-grandchildren: Hannah, Gabriel, Haven, Peyton, and Austin Duhon, and Kenneth McCandless. Additionally, Marie’s joy of being a grandmother and great-grandmother extended to her adopted grandchildren: Joseph Catchot, III, Ashley Boudreaux, (Jeffrey), and adopted great-grandchildren: Mason, Bailey and Ariel Boudreaux. Marie was devoted to her family and unselfishly cared for those persons God placed in her life. Her wonderful gift of baking was shared with anyone who asked for her cakes, petit fours, and fruitcake cookies. However, Marie’s baking talents were not to be surpassed by her Cajun culinary skills in preparing such memorable palates as gumbo, crawfish bisque, bushaloni, oyster soup, and kidney stew to name a few. Her crocheting ability will be her legacy and testament to the love Marie had for her family and friends. Jonathan Holder of Chalmette, LA, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans at the age of 48. He was born on Wednesday, November 4, 1970, in Stockton, California, to Carl and Brenda Giles Holder. Jonathan enjoyed life and loved to go to the casinos, shopping, the beach, but he especially loved walking his dog and spending time with his family. Jonathan is survived by his partner, Don Campo, his sisters, Michele Morris and her husband Mickey, Angela Holder and Kathy Pittman and her husband Donald, his brother, Skyler Holder, his nieces and nephews, Austin Johnson, Alyssa Holder, Jayden Holder and Cameron Holder, his other mother, Kathleen Vidrine, his step father, Vic Ridgel, and his fur baby, Jaxs, also, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Brenda Giles Holder, his grandparents, Clifford & Gladys Johnson, his nephew, Joshua Holder, and his fur baby, Sparky. Jade Pierce left this world too early on September 1, 2019 at the age of 18. She was born on October 3, 2000. She will be deeply missed by her grandparents JoAnna Smith, Barney Philips (Darlene Philips) Donna Habisreitinger and Lydia Kiefer. She also leaves behind a niece Alissa Pierce. Jade had an energy that with just one encounter with her, you would remember her for a life time. Mary Lee Cazzetta Chimento Scurlock passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019, at the age of 89. Born in Chalmette, LA on September 19, 1930 to the late Dan and Cecile Cazzetta. She is also preceded in death by her daughter Judith Ann Chimento; late husbands Chris Chimento and Lester Scurlock; sister Audrey Schmidt; grandparents Richard Riese and Germaine Ader Riese. Mary Lee is survived by her son Michael Chimento (Sherry); grandsons Dustin (Danielle), Casey, and Drew Chimento; great-grandson David Sylvio Chimento; sisters Bernice Gonzales and Gerose D’Aunoy. She was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. One of the original families who resided in St. Bernard, going back four generations. Mary Lee graduated from Maumus High School. She retired from Hartford Insurance Company as a secretary. Deborah Thonn Schellinger, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in Slidell, LA at the age of 66. A native and longtime resident of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 2003, she taught at many schools, including, Little Oak in Slidell, and others in St. Bernard Parish. She was a parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell. Beloved wife of the late Lester “Bucket” Schellinger Jr; daughter of the late John and Henrietta Thonn; Mother of Jenny Schellinger Brennan (Ronnie), and Lester B. Schellinger III (Michelle); sister of John Thonn Jr., Ida Thonn Julian, Carolyn Ann Rotolo, Betty Thonn Rooney, and the late Sidney Thonn. Also survived by four grandchildren: Hunter Brennan, Braden Brennan, Sydney Schellinger, and Cole Schellinger. Claire Mary Poirrier Puissegur, daughter of the late Sidney Poirrier and late Claire Boudreaux, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 79. She was a life-long resident of St. Bernard, LA, but resided in Texas for the past four years. Spending the majority of her working years in management, Claire retired as a property manager in 1997. She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening and fishing. She loved cooking for her family and is best remembered for her spaghetti, crab gumbo, weenie stew, and cabbage casserole. An avid coffee lover, she enjoyed relaxing by listening to music. She was a huge football fan who took pride in cheering on the New Orleans Saints. Known as a woman full of life, she will be deeply missed by her loved ones. Claire is the beloved mother of Randolph “Randy” J. Blanchard III (Faye), Gerardette “Gerrie” B. Golden (Jackie), Rodney M. Blanchard, Neil G. Blanchard Sr. (Shannon) and the late Frankie B. Blanchard (Janet). She is the grandmother of Randolph “Randy” Blanchard IV (Jenny), Brandon Daigle, Daniel Beck (Kiley), Anthony Beck, Calvin Ordes, Clay Golden, Leslie Delatorre (Johnny), Taylor Golden (Carissa), Chelsey Golden (Jimmy), Montana Blanchard, Sarah Olivier (Thorn), Neil “Gerard” Blanchard Jr., Shane Blanks (Elise), and Tyson Blanks (Maddy) and the great-grandmother of twenty-three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters, Carrol Landry (Tracy) and Hazel Heaney and was preceded in death by her brothers, Sydney and Frank Poirrier. Raymond Joseph Neal, Sr., a US Army Veteran, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Lena Fradella Neal for 54 years. Loving father of Raymond Joseph Neal Jr. (Jennifer), and Cheryl Neal Martinez (Dennis). Son of the late Uzie Piere Neal and Hilda Dupre Neal. Brother of Geraldine Neal Meyers (Louis), Richard John Neal (Dolly), Wayne Piere Neal (Virginia) and the late Donald Paul Neal and Loritta Neal Frazier. Brother-in-law of Alton Frazier. Proud grandfather of Cody Ray Neal, Ashley Marie Martinez, Dennis James Martinez, Jr., Nathan Joseph Neal, Hannah Sophia Martinez, Raymond Joseph Neal, III and Logan Anthony Martinez. Great-grandfather of Brantley Joseph Hebert. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Raymond was born on June 4, 1941 in Raceland, LA, and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Loved by so many, Raymond touched our lives more than he will ever know. He was known as a friend, Uncle Raymond, Mr. Ray, Dad, Paw-Paw, Honey, and by one, as Old Fart. He enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies, hanging out in his shed, hunting, and gardening. He was an easygoing man with a heart of gold, and would do anything for anyone. He will be truly missed by many. Jocelyn Barrosse Montz passed away on September 19, 2019 at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Ollen Montz, Sr. for 67 years. Jocelyn was the loving mother of Cynthia LeBas, Jocelyn Owens, Dr. Andrew Montz, Jr. (Leslie), Dr. Mary Christine Gioe (Gasper) of Covington, LA and Nolan Montz (Patricia) of Scott, LA. Grandmother of John LeBas III (Judy), Renee and Lauren LeBas, Jennifer Fortune (Greg), Stephen Owens (Heather), Andrew Montz (Brooke), Melissa Donahoe (Danny), Laura Tillman (Matt), Emily Montz, Timothy (Sarah), Christopher (Katherine), Jonathan, and Katherine Gioe, and Rachel Montz. Great-grandmother of John Preston and Trevor LeBas, Carter, Remi, and Starling Fortune, Eliza Owens, Emersynn Farrell, Casey, Cassidy, Cohen, and Cameran Donahoe, and Thomas and Joseph Gioe. Sister of Ronald Barrosse, Barbara Root, Mary Linda Serpas, and Susan Richards. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas O. Barrosse and Rosalie C. Points and step-mother Mary Louise Price, sister Sylvia Barrosse, brothers Edmond, Jerrold (North Hills, PA), John Wilton, and Rev. Thomas Barrosse, C.S.C. Jocelyn was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. She lived in St. Bernard for over 50 years before moving to Covington, LA after Hurricane Katrina. She was a teacher in New Orleans and St. Bernard for over 20 years. She was active in St. Louise de Marillac and St. Robert Bellarmine Parishes and a member of Fr. Clarence Hug K.C. Auxiliary. She also belonged to St. Anselm’s St. Joseph Guild in Madisonville, LA and AARP #5408. Relatives and friends of the family and former parishioners of St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Louise de Marillac Churches in Arabi and parishioners of St. Anselm Church are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Church, 504 Main St., Madisonville, LA on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at the church from 9 a.m. until the start of Mass. Leatrice Ludwig Mason passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the age of 88. Lee was a native of New Orleans and retired after 40 plus years from F. W. Woolworth as Human Resource Manager; a member of Shangra-la Carnival Club; an avid reader and lover of birds. She is predeceased by her parents Theodore and Elenor Ludwig; brothers, Ted, Louis, George Ludwig and son, Michael Mason. She is survived by her children, Lee Mary Mason (Leon), Patrick Mason (Rita), Sean Mason (Sharon) and Kathy Mason Moore (Charlie). Grandchildren, Annette Hebert Jahan, Amanda Hebert Morales, Daniel Mason, Josh Moore, Sarah Moore, Lydia Moore, Brandon Normand, Heather Normand Mason Greene, sister Fay Ludwig and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
