Violet Geraci Serpas was taken by the angels up to heaven to be in God's arms on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, following a lengthy illness at the age of 70. Violet was born in New Orleans, LA, on May 25, 1948. She lived in Chalmette, LA, for 58 years; she resided in Pearl River, LA since 2006. Violet was the beloved wife of Nathan J. Serpas, Jr., for 52 joyous years. She was the loving mother of James Nathan Serpas and mother-in-law Alissa Serpas. Violet was the doting grandmother of Cayden Winslow and Layla Serpas who enjoyed visiting and experiencing many trips and special events with GG and Tee. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Maxie Hurst Geraci and daughter-in-law of the late Nathan Serpas and Yvonne Donnelly Serpas. She is survived by five siblings, Vita Blair, Jacob Geraci, Christine Ladner, Charlene Geraci, and Carmella Geraci. She is preceded in death by siblings Jerry Wilson, Joseph Geraci, Paul Geraci,and Vina (Lacy) Musgrove. Violet had special relationships and bonds with her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, special friend Toni Barcelona Braud, and many teacher colleagues. Family and love of God was Violet's priorities in life, and she showed by example her love of each family member and her faith in the Lord. She also was dedicated to her career as a Language Arts teacher and Reading Specialist with a master’s degree in Reading with the St. Bernard Parish School System for 27.5 years. Family and friends will greatly miss her genuine nature and kind personality. Special thanks to Compassus Hospice and most of all to Casey and Wanda for being loving and professional care givers.
