Edith “Edie” Kelley Perez Marquette, a former resident of St. Bernard Parish and a longtime resident of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond, LA at the age of 83. She was born August 8, 1936, in Boston, MA, to John Joseph Kelley and Lillian Wilkens Kelley. Edie had a sense of humor and was always fierce, sassy and outspoken. She was a stay at home Mom and housewife for many years. She was a strong survivor who suffered through a lot of trauma and hung in there like a trooper. She will be dearly remembered by many for her unique personality. Edie was preceded in death by her parents John and Lillian Kelley; two sons, Joseph Patrick Perez and Brian Matthew Perez; great-grandson Graham Wilhite; former husbands Clarence Jerome Perez Jr. and Robert Marquette. Edie is survived by her three children, Dawn Perez Cotogno (Bruce), Susan Perez Plaisance (Royce), John Michael Perez; five grandchildren Erica Plaisance, Lyndie Penland, Cari Wilhite, Brennan Cotogno, Amber Peyton; five great-grandchildren Emmitt, Cate, Odin, Kirah and Avria. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hammond, LA.
