Winston “Skeet” Lawrence Cantrell Sr. went to be with his Lord Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home in Ventress, LA, at the age of 75. He was born in New Orleans, raised in Violet and lived in Chalmette until Hurricane Katrina. Winston worked and retired from the St. Bernard Parish Sewerage and Water Board. Winston is also survived by his loving wife of 31 years Karen Rockvoan Cantrell of Ventress, La; daughters Angel Cantrell Marino of St. Bernard, La and Jenny Arieux Clement and husband Gavin of Ventress, La; grandson Robert Thoulion, Jr. of St. Bernard, granddaughters Layla Mae and Harper Ann Clement of Ventress, La; and great-grandson Kody Lawrence Thoulion of St. Bernard; brother Walter Cantrell and wife Rosie; sisters Phyllis Wellmeyer and Carolyn Perez; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Winston Cantrell, Jr.; his parents Lloyd and Rena Ebanks Cantrell; brother Lloyd Cantrell, Jr.; sisters Kathleen Henderson and Marjorie Bowley; son-in-law Philip Marino. Special thanks to Pointe Coupee Hospice nurses and Cheryl Chutz for always being there. Visitation and a funeral mass were held on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home in Chalmette, LA. Pallbearers were Bradley Cantrell, Joey Bowley, Robert Thoulion, Gavin Clement, George Prestridge and Paul Rockvoan. His burial followed in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
