Gene Lawrence Brockhaus, Sr., of Picayune, MS, formerly of St. Bernard Parish, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 68. A native of New Orleans, LA, he moved to St. Bernard Parish in March of 1970. Gene worked at Chalmette Meat Packing Company from 1976 to 2005. He married Suzanne Seymour in May of 1969, and they had three sons. He was a loving, hardworking father who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gene moved to Picayune, MS, after Hurricane Katrina. He was also a loving caregiver to his mother from a young age for many years. His joys were horseback riding and cooking. Gene was a member of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Brockhaus, Sr. and Ruby Petifils Brockhaus; his sisters, Ruby “Peaches” Brockhaus Duhe and Ada Brockhaus White; and his brothers, Louis Brockhaus, Jr. and Theodore Brockhaus. eft to cherish his memory are his sons, Gene (Linda “Terri”) Brockhaus, Jr., Jonathan (Norma) Brockhaus, Sr., and Joshua (Jennifer) Brockhaus, Sr.; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jr., Matthew, Jade, Justin, Joshua, and Hunter Brockhaus; one great-granddaughter, Lily Anne Brockhaus; his niece, Ruby Margaret Plunkett Corley; and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral services were held on Friday, December 9, 2016, at 6 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. Father Joseph Trinh officiated the service.
