Dennis Michael O’Brien, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 68. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, a resident of St. Bernard Parish until moving to Slidell after Hurricane Katrina. He was employed by Lockheed Martin for 27 years until he retired in 2009. Dennis was then employed part time by St. Joe Brick Company for eight years until his cancer diagnosis. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Nicosia Laurente O’Brien. He was the proud father to his only son Dennis Matthew O’Brien (Alice); as well as his step children Andrew, Jake, Nikki Montelongo (Glenn), and Kelley Buras (Jason). He was a step-grandfather to Devyn, Brennan and Liam Montelongo as well as to Chyler, Camden and Callyn Buras. Dennis also leaves behind his step-great-grandson Dominic Montelongo; his siblings Judy Dinet (Calvin), Mickie, Bobby (Shelly), Kenny (Cindy), and Pat O’Brien (Cindy). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Matthew J. O’Brien; mother Dorothea K. Thompson O’Brien; his brother Timmy O’Brien; and his sister Gwen Cochran. Dennis’s passions were body building, classic cars and being his “own mechanic,” which he was truly a great one!
