Annie Cascio Mahl peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born in New Orleans on February 24, 1931. She was the wife of the late Alvin N. Mahl and daughter of the late Annie Dragon Cascio and Frank Cascia Annie is also preceded in death by all of her seven older siblings and their spouses: Antoinette Cascio, Michel Cascio (Gloria), David Cascio, Malvina Penzica, Rita Cascio, Victoria Davis (Jules), and Frances Riggio (Charlie). Annie will be dearly missed by her three children Gina Mahl, Wayne Mahl (Karen), and Michelle Mahl Buuck (Ted); four grandchildren Caleb Gamer (Lindsey), Eden Buuck Gioe (Gino), Tyler Mahl and Abby Mahl; and two great-granddaughters Shiloh Renee Gamer and Saylor Grace Gamer. Annie also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Annie was known for her outgoing personality, incredible talents, unending creativity, strong Catholic faith, and her devotion to the Blessed Mother. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Elementary School and graduated from the Academy of the HolyAngels in 1948. She was actively involved with her three children who also attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Elementary School. She worked as the school and church secretary and later in life opened Cakes by Annie Bakery in Chalmette, LA. Annie was a member of numerous clubs and social groups during her lifetime. A few of the groups included the Pink House Senior Center, the Drewgars, the Lucky Bucks, AARP 3926. Annie also was a volunteer tax preparer for the AARP Income Tax Program for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church and prayed regularly in the church Adoration Chapel. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care of Annie. Annie was laid to eternal rest on February 22, 2021, at a private graveside prayer service and interment. It was Annie’s wishes not to bring people together during the COVID pandemic. Out of love and respect for the safety and health of family and friends, she requested a private burial and a memorial mass at a later time when it is safe to come together.
