Joseph John Barisich, a retired fisherman, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the age of 67. Mr. Barisich was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in Arabi, LA for 65 years. He was a member of the United Slavonian Benevolent Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Vilka Barisich, who were born in Sucuraj, Croatia. Survivors include two sisters, Frances Barisich, Ann Marie Barisich Severns (Jeff) and one brother George Barisich (Debbie). He was a loving and devoted uncle to two nieces, Stephanie Severns Silva (Ronald) and Brooke Barisich and three nephews, Christopher Barisich, Matthew Severns (Melissa) and Justin Barisich. He proudly enjoyed being a great uncle to Tucker Silva, Zoey Silva and Cooper Severns. They would spend hours playing games upstairs, swinging, playing ball outside and especially swimming. JoJo didn't stand a chance against all the cannon balls! Joseph had a heart of gold and was so full of life wherever he went. He was such a giving, loving human being and it shows with all the outpouring of love and support our family has received. We cannot thank our family and friends enough for just being there for us during this very unexpected time. Our brother is in Heaven now and at peace. He will be deeply missed by all his family, aunts, cousins, and friends. God bless you, Joseph. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and funeral mass at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA. Interment: St. Louis #3 Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. The family hosted a reception after the burial.
