(1956-January 16, 2022) Gale Bourgeois Fontenot passed away on January 16, 2022 with her loving granddaughter Cecile by her side, three days before her 66th birthday at St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Chalmette, LA. She was born in New Orleans, LA, in 1956, and moved to Metairie in 1969. For the last seven years, Gale lived in Meraux with Jessica, her husband Timothy Merwin and Jessica's children. Gale is also an alumnus of Grace King High School. Gale is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gary Fontenot of 35 years and her daughter Jessica (Tim), three loving grandchildren, William (Shelby), Cecile, and Lance (Ana), and one great grandson Landon who was Gale's heart. her sister Fay (Herbert), niece Laura, nephew's Mike and Wallace "Johnny," a host of great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her niece and godchild Rose Ducote Maher, her parents Charles Bourgeois Jr. and Rosemary Mitten; paternal grandparents Charles Bourgeois Sr. and Cecile Lablanc; maternal great-grandparents Raymond Mitten Sr. and Hilda Besnard; and brother-in-law Wallace Ducote Sr. Gale loved to cook, play bingo, take long rides in the country; and attended crawfish boils, bar-b-ques, sitting by swimming pools, family get togethers. She also liked going to the casinos, and listening to oldies and country music. She was a straight talker. She would tell you like it was if you wanted to hear it or not, and it was coming at you with all four feet and nine inches. Gale worked as a food tech at Alice Birney for 12 years and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for 15 years for Dino's Catering. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the Memorial Mass to immediately follow at 4 p.m. The officiant will be Father Michale Lamy.
