Xavier L. Verdin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the age of 82. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his life. He was the beloved brother of Ed Verdin, Emelia Cheramie, Imelda Vetra, Irvin Verdin, Leona Rhodes and the late Herbert Verdin. Son of the late Toussaint and Armantine Billiot Verdin. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Xavier was born in Terrebonne Parish and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Gretna, LA. He enjoyed working and caring for St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, along with enjoying the simple pleasures throughout his life and caring deeply for those around him. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. The family of Xavier wishes to thank Bayside Healthcare for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, June 24, 2017, followed by a funeral service in Xavier’s memory. He was laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
