Alvin M. Washington, Sr., departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2017 to be with the Lord at the age of 83. Mr. Washington was a native of New Orleans, LA and resided temporarily in Drew, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina before returning to New Orleans. Mr. Washington was the son of the late Walter Taylor Washington and the late Augustine Bell Washington. He was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Gwendolyn N. Washington, and father of Allana (Theriout), Alvin Jr. (Keva), the late Angelle, Alvarnette (Willie) and Dave. Mr. Washington was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and he also attended Dillard University. He worked as a Letter Carrier at Arabi Post Office for 36 years and retired in 2005. Visitation and services were held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4127 Franklin Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122. Interment: St. Louis No. 3.
