Leona “Kay” Phillips Blum

Leona “Kay” Phillips Blum died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, on Monday, June 7, 2018, at the age of 86. She was born March 3, 1932 in Tylertown, MS, to the late Leslie Phillips and Burgonee Greer Phillips. She is survived by her sons, Albert (David), Jr. (Rhonda), Gary (Chris), and Kenneth (Michele) Blum and her daughters, Cynthia Murphy and Pamela Mercier; grandchildren, Melinda Hall (Rusty), Michelle Uplinger (Dean); Aaron, Adam (Amanda), Gregory, Jeffrey (Kristi), Valerie (Tiffany), Kaitlyn (Lance), and Kevin (Natalie) Blum; Lance, Jr. (Kristina) and Ryan (Audrey) Mercier and Jason Swindler. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Albert “Al” Blum, Sr. Relatives and friends attended a visitation on, June 12, 2018 at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., in Chalmette with a Mass in her honor, at Noon. She was laid to rest, during a graveside service, in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
