Samuel John Bartholomew, Sr., of Chalmette, Louisiana, born on September 17, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Norma Achee Bartholomew and the late Samuel V. Bartholomew; passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Metairie, Louisiana at the age of 76. Sammy served in the Army National Guard and also worked in the Sheetmetal industry through Sheetmetal Union Local 11. After Hurricane Katrina, Sammy relocated to Scott, Louisiana, where he was taken in by Elsie and Darrell Thibodeaux. Sammy was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Bartholomew, Jr; and grandson, Brandon Bartholomew. He is survived by his son, Steve Bartholomew (Ellen); daughter, Norma Mahler; grandchildren: Hunter Bartholomew, Blake Devine, Nicholas Mahler, and Ariel Bartholomew; and great-grandchildren: Braden Bartholomew, Easton Brown; and many close friends. Sammy enjoyed hunting and fishing and always had a story to tell. Family and friends attended the visitation followed by a memorial service at The Vineyard Church of New Orleans, 4340 Sal Lentini Pkwy Kenner, Louisiana 70065 on Saturday, October 27, 2018.
