Karen Kennedy Avila passed away on September 16, 2016 at the age of 59. Beloved mother of Corey Bordelon (Stacey), Christian Bordelon (Katie), and Colleen Avila. Grandmother of Taylor, Hunter, Jackson, and Dylan Bordelon. Daughter of Althea Burckel Kennedy and the late Myron Kennedy, Sr. Sister of Kerry Staszak (Vincent), Myron Kennedy, Jr., and her brother and godson, Patrick Kennedy (Valerie). Aunt and great-aunt of Gregory Faust (Erika) and their children Kennedy and Alexander; and Kole and Kenye Martin. Also survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Karen was the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Poydras Home in New Orleans. She was an active Parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Chalmette, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 12 noon.
