Son of the late Roy Louis Manalla Sr. and Lois Fanz Manalla. Brother of Cindy Manalla Schulz and Rosalind Manalla Lamarque. Roy is survived by the mother of his children Kim Vedrenne Manalla. Beloved father of Nicole Manalla Lafrance (Cliff), Nathan Roy Manalla (Cheramie), and Neal Manalla (Cherie). Proud grandfather of Hannah Lafrance (Walter), Alexander "Alec" Lafrance, Ashton Lafrance, Ella Lafrance, Kayla Manalla, Mya Manalla, and Cecilia Manalla. Audrey Sheilah Joachim Auderer entered eternal life on Saturday, November 20, 2021, in Chalmette, LA, at the age of 84. She was born in New Orleans on September 18, 1937 and was a proud resident of St. Bernard Parish for the last 51 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In September 1959, she married Frank Peter Auderer, Jr., the love of her life. Together they raised a family of four. Once her children were grown, she devoted her life to caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the center point of family life. Family traditions were always close to her heart. Her love for baking birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren soon became a way of teaching her granddaughters to bake for their children. She was the organizer of holidays, birthdays, and most importantly family Sunday dinners. Beloved daughter of the late James Edward Joachim and Gladys Victoria Walters. Robert George Dempsey passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born on July 13, 1939 to the late William Robert Dempsey and Dorothy Elizabeth Mayer Dempsey. He was married to the late Sandra P. Dempsey for 48 years. He is survived by his son William R. Dempsey. He had two brothers: Howard Dempsey (Betty) and the late William Dempsey. Robert retired from the Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistant Center as a consultant for small and disadvantage business on government contract process. He also retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, New Orleans District as a contracting officer. Additionally, he was a music instructor, an arranger of the music, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Stardusters Drum and Bugle Corps and the Louisiana Southerners Drum and Bugle Corps. Lynn Faurie Breuhl, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021, in the presence of her family; at the age of 74. She was the wife of Robert C. Breuhl, Sr. and daughter of the late Wallace J. Faurie and the late Odile Barousse Faurie. Mother of Kellie Miller (Shonda), James C. Miller, III, and Brandon Miller (Alexa). Sister of Mark J. Faurie (Patti) and the late Gene M. Faurie (Debbie). Also survived by three stepchildren and six grandchildren. Lynn was born and raised in New Orleans, where she played sports and was an excellent student. She later resided in Arabi, Chalmette and Lacombe. She graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School and spent the majority of her years as a Legal Assistant. Lynn enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and always taking care of her loved ones. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Orleans and later The Village Lutheran Church in Lacombe. She enjoyed watching sports played by her children and grandchildren as well as on television. Lynn was loved by all and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Bessie Mae Revere Teen passed away on November 13, 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA, at the age of 96. She was born in Bush, LA on January 3, 1925 to Annette Dutruch Revere and Cassie Revere. A resident of Chalmette, LA, for 47 years. She was a devoted wife to the late Donald W. Teen. Bessie was the loving mother of Linda Teen Pennix (Butch), Irene Ansardi Plaisance and Alvin E. Crawford Jr., (Brenda). Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Shirley Taylor and Joyce Binder. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Marie Chimento, Ruby Sitnik, Maycelle Revere, Andrew Revere, Robert Revere and Griffin Revere. Bessie’s greatest joy was raising her children and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking and gardening and had a “green thumb” when it came to her plants. Bessie was also very devoted to her Catholic faith. In her earlier years she enjoyed working as a waitress. JoAnn Morton Lonergan was called to her eternal home on Friday, November 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family; at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helena Morton. JoAnn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Nicholas Clarence Lonergan III; her son, Nicholas C Lonergan IV (Kim), and her daughter Nicole Marie Kennedy. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Nicholas C. Lonergan V (Anna), Colson Lonergan, Koryn Kennedy, and Jacob Kennedy. She is also survived by two brothers Gerard Morton and John Morton Jr. (Leslie) and nieces Julia and Caroline Morton. JoAnn graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Chalmette and retired from Bell South Communications. JoAnn and Nick moved from Kenner after 29 years in 1999 to Mandeville, LA, where they resided for 22 years. She was a parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Church and made so many friends and acquaintances. JoAnn prayed for many, and many prayed for her with her ongoing fight with two types of cancer, unfortunately not getting past the final fight with her most recent cancer. She is grateful for all the doctors and nurses who helped her through her fight. She was most grateful for her home health nurse, Whitney Johnson, who was like a second daughter to her, always available for her special needs. JoAnn had many close friends and neighbors who were her support groups which naturally made her feel upbeat about beating her illnesses. Prior to her illness, she belonged to several Square Dance clubs and was involved in numerous social events. She enjoyed being with the wives of members of the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, she was so blessed to be great-great-grandmother to Eowyn F. Hilkirk and Aurora J. Hilkirk. Loyce was the last surviving sibling of Wildon J. Clark, Clement R. Clark, Cleta C. Crawford, Doris G. Dickey, Velda G. Brock, Daniel Curtis Gates, and Bobby R. Gates. Loyce was born and raised by Daniel Curtis Gates and Wilma Fortinberry Gates of Spring Creek, Louisiana. After she married, she relocated to St. Bernard Parish, where she was a dedicated member of Chalmette Baptist Church for many years. Loyce enjoyed traveling with her "Senior" group to many places in the United States. She moved to Slidell, LA, following Hurricane Katrina, where she became a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Patricia Riley Burtchaell of Slidell, LA, passed away on November 22, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born on March 15, 1932 in New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Birdie Riley, Sr.; her brothers, Patrick and William, Jr.; her husband William A. Burtchaell Jr.; and a granddaughter, Angel Jeanne Marie. Patsy is survived by her sister, Iris Canapa; her children, Kathleen Reboult (Nick), Donna Hartmann (Charlie), William Jr. (Lynette), Patricia Burtchaell (Lofton), and Sandra Roussell. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Patsy grew up in New Orleans, raised her family in Arabi, and has presently lived in Slidell, LA, for the past 37 years. She raised five children, was a successful dog breeder, and owned multiple restaurants; Bill’s Pizza in St. Bernard, Fisherman’s Warf in Slidell, and Lunch Man’s in Slidell. James "Jimmy" P. McCarthy
James "Jimmy" P. McCarthy, beloved husband of Mitzi Bienvenu McCarthy, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the age of 75 with his family by his side. He was the son of the late James R. McCarthy and Edith Boesch McCarthy. Jimmy's devotion to his family was the essence of his life. He was the dedicated father of Tracy Laiche (Brian) and James P. McCarthy Jr. (Paul Cramer). Jimmy has two adoring grandchildren, Gavin and Ali Laiche. He was the loving brother of Terry McCarthy (Nancy), Danny McCarthy (Debbie), Eileen Martinez (Simo), and the late Richard McCarthy (Rhea). He was the dedicated godfather to Kevin Jimenez, Amy Arthur, Nancy McCarthy, Laura Campo, and Edie Martinez. He is also survived by his aunt, Marilyn Boye (Willis) and his stepmother, Freda McCarthy, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jimmy was a graduate of the Chalmette High School class of 1964, followed by six years of service to his country in the Army National Guard. He spent 40 years building a successful career in construction management, specializing in millwork. He also served as treasurer of McCarthy Engineering alongside his father and brother. He and his wife were founders of J&R Grill in Chalmette and he later served as a manager for the Palms Casino. He was a member of the St. Bernard Jaycees and Ducks Unlimited. In his early life, he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time with his loved ones at his camp in Little Woods. Jimmy had an incredible sense of humor, and laughter was contagious for all who were blessed to be in his presence. He never took life too seriously and was often the life of the party. He was a true patriarch in every sense of the word, offering advice or a helping hand to anyone in need. He will live on in the hearts of all who know him, and the lives he touched with his laughter, kindness, wisdom, and generosity. Brian Anthony Clement passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the age of 62. Husband of 40 years to his beloved, Nancie Clement. Son of the late Paul Edward Clement and Celeste Beverly Clement. Born in New Orleans Baptist Hospital and raised in Arabi and Metairie, Brian graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1977 and owned Property Damage Appraisal Inc with his wife Nancie for many years. Following his father, Paul Clement Sr., into the insurance appraisal business, Brian was a talented and respected member of his professional community. More importantly to those who knew and loved him, Brian was a person of tremendous compassion and concern for others. His habit of noticing the needs of those around him, and responding spontaneously to those needs, was one of his many endearing qualities. He was incredibly generous and loved giving much more than receiving. A lover of music, Brian played trumpet through his junior high and high school years and enjoyed exploring and listening to all types of music throughout his life. Growing up, he had a record collection that was envied by all which he loved sharing with anyone who wanted to listen, especially if they wanted to listen to the Moody Blues or Pink Floyd. He had a wicked sense of humor that would evoke belly laughs from those around him. He was also a creative visual artist who was most comfortable expressing himself to others through his unique artistic vision. Departed far too soon, Brian will always be missed and remembered by those who knew and loved him. Donald Edison Roy
Donald Edison Roy, age 83, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Beloved husband of Janice Martin Roy and by the first marriage to the late Florence Broussard Roy. Father of Donna Terry (Mike), Elaine Bourgeois (Gary), Barry Roy (Wende), the late Phillip Roy and Steven Roy. Son of the late Edais Roy and Beula Moore Roy. Brother of Harry Gene Roy, Diane Roy Trahan, the late Charles Roy and Sadie Roy Dubuc. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A native of Mermantau, LA, and a resident of Slidell for over 50 years, he was the owner of Roy Bingo Supplies and was a retired employee of Frey Meat Company. He was a former member and president of the St. Bernard Parish Jaycees. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved classic cars. Alfred Ernest Horridge, Jr.
Alfred Ernest Horridge, Jr., passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the age of 78. He is survived by his siblings, Mary Kramer (the late Jack), Carol Jennings, Elodie Romero (Peter), Suzanne Payne (the late Harry), and Manny Horridge (Linda). He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Bessie Breaux Horridge and Alfred E. Horridge, Sr., and by his sister, the late Brenda Horridge. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Alfred was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Carriere, Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard, and will be fondly missed by all those he leaves behind. Charles J. Caluda
Reverend Charles J. Caluda, a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the age of 89. Father Caluda was born on March 12, 1932 in Metairie, LA. He attended elementary school at St. Catherine in Metairie and Woodlawn Public in Bertrandville. His secondary education was at Braithwaite Public in Braithwaite, LA. He attended LSU and graduated with degrees in Music and Music Education. He also attended St. Mary’s in Kentucky and Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 2, 1962 in New Orleans. Father Caluda served as Assistant Pastor at St. Philip Neri Church, St. Rita Church, St. Pius X Church, St. Francis of Assisi Church, and Christ the King Church. His pastorates were at St. Hubert Church in Garyville, LA and St. Louise de Marillac Church in Arabi. In addition to these pastoral assignments, he served as Dean of the St. Bernard Deanery, District Vocation Director, and Chaplain of Court No. 1334 of the Catholic Daughters of America. Father Caluda retired in 2005 and resided in St. Bernard until the time of his death. Father Caluda was preceded in death by his parents – Hazel Schremp Caluda and Angelo Caluda, and his brother, Marion (Daphne). He is survived by his brothers, Daniel (Mercedes) and Gerald, and, by his sisters, Roselyn Fernandez (Anthony) and Gaynel Parker (Newton). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Elaine Mary Kivell
Elaine Mary Kivell passed away peacefully at 1:57 p.m. on November 30, 2021 at the age of 83. The Lord opened his arms to welcome his beloved daughter Elaine into Heaven. Elaine is now joined with her loved ones in heaven. She was the loving daughter of the late Milton Harold Kivell Sr., and Maggie Elizabeth Banner Kivell. Loving sister of the late Elise Theresa Kivell Eber (Edward Jr.), Claudia June Kivell Smith (Larry Sr.), Mildred Louise Kivell Stouff (Craton Jr.), Milton Harold Kivell Jr., Frederick Harold Kivell, Richard James Kivell, Lawrence Joseph Kivell-Banner Sr. (Odile Chaplain). Elaine was affectionately known as "Lanie" to her loved ones. She was born in New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard.
