Anna Elsensohn Labourdette passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Amos L. Labourdette for 68 years. Loving mother of Barry A. Labourdette (Betty), Trudy L. Millet (Daniel), and Desiree L. Lamanette (J.D.). Sister of Gloria Ducote and the late Shirley O’Meallie. Grandmother of Shelley Reed, Barry Labourdette, Jr., Dana Farmer, Sherry Dolese, Brad Dolese, Tammy Bretey, Daniel Millet, Jr. “Butch”, Michelle King, and the late Rachelle Candebat. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. A native of New Orleans, LA, a longtime former resident of both Arabi and Chalmette, LA and most recently a resident of Windsor Senior Community in Mandeville, LA. Relatives and friends of the family attended the funeral services at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home in Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Craig Anthony Navis passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, after a brief illness, at his home in Chalmette, LA, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 75. He was born on Thursday, July 3, 1941, in New Orleans, LA to the late Marie Relimpio Navis and Sidney Joseph Navis. Craig is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Susan Netto Navis; his children and their spouses, Sherri and Donald Blanco, Melinda (Cindy) and Charles Lauland, Craig Navis, Jr., and Curtis and Nina Navis; and 11 grandchildren, Dawn, Melinda, Frank, Eric, Brandy, Jessica, Charles, Eric, Curtis Jr., Valerie, and Gavin. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Paula & Wanda Lynn Navis; parents, Sidney and Marie Navis; his brother, Sidney J. Navis; and sister, Gwen Navis. Craig loved fishing and hunting and he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. A celebration of Craig’s Life will be held at a later date. Dardanella Preto Pajares passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Brian Center in Hickory, NC at the age of 96. A native of New Orleans, she resided in St. Bernard, LA from 1951-2005 and Conover, NC since 2005. She was a member of the Perpetual Adorers of Prince of Peace Church in Chalmette. Preceding her in death were her husband of 41 years, Albert Roy Pajares; parents Raymond Preto and Leota Huber Preto; and brother Norwood Preto of Houston. She is survived by son Terence Pajares and daughter Avis Camus; grandchildren Tony, Jay and Tiffany Pajares; great grandchildren Tori, Logan, Caleb and Chloe Pajares, Hayden Tucker, Jason Tucker, Jr. and Jesse Stephens. Louis Cyril Rupp passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 96. He was the beloved husband of 72 years to the late Laurentine Weltring Rupp, and son of the late Percy and Alma Muller Rupp. Louis was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Slidell, LA following Hurricane Katrina. Louis enjoyed a 30-year career with New Orleans City Hall while simultaneously teaching evening classes at Delgado Community College. Following his retirement, Louis and Laurentine enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Waveland, MS and loved square dancing with their friends in elaborate costumes hand-created by Laurentine. He is survived and fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives and dear friends. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. Relatives and friends attended funeral services held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home in Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Karen Ansardi Becnel, age 60 of Bensalem, PA, was born in New Orleans, La on December 6, 1956 went to her eternal home on Monday, January 23, 2017. She was the beloved wife of 40 years to Leo J. Becnel. Daughter of Charles Ansardi Jr. and the late Norma Fernandez Ansardi. Sister of Darrell Ansardi and Laurie Jernigan (Earnest Tom). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and close friends, especially her companions Remy and Kito. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Charles & Ruth Hingle Ansardi and Joesph and Lucille Kelty Fernandez, as well as nephew Baby Ansardi and grand nephew Logan Ansardi. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Gerald “Jerry” Borrello

Gerald “Jerry” Borrello was called home on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the age of 66. He suffered complications following surgery. Jerry’s family surrounded him with love and prayers during his final days as they waited for him to walk with the Lord. Jerry was born in New Orleans on April 27, 1950 to Joyce and Gerald Borrello, Sr. He is survived by Glenda Saizan Borrello, his wife of 41 years. His son Craig Borrello, (Kseniya) brother Vincent (Debbie), sister Sharon LaFrance (Lee) and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces. His parents preceded him in death. Jerry graduated from Promised Land Academy in Braithwaite, LA in 1968. He became interested in electronics while serving as an Aviation Electronics Specialist in the Naval Air Reserve from 1970 to 1976. He also worked as an electronics technician for Plaquemines Parish during this time. He subsequently earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Orleans, after which he joined Texas Instruments in Katy Texas. His career led him and Glenda on an adventure to Bristol, R.I. where he joined Raytheon Industries. After 20 wonderful years in Bristol, Jerry accepted a transfer to Raytheon in Huntsville, Alabama in 2005 to be closer to family while leaving behind many close friends and wonderful memories. Jerry’s engineering background served him well as a Subcontracts Manager with Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) in Huntsville, an R&D site. Working directly with the engineering teams while managing major subcontractors he was able to help resolve issues and keep the subcontractors on budget and schedule Jerry retired from Raytheon in 2007. He accepted a position with Tec Masters July 2, 2007 to March 4, 2016 as the Program Manager for the Radar Digital Signal Injection System (RDSIS) and Joint Research and Development Contract (JRDC) contracts. He managed and mentored employees by giving of his time and resources to develop and advance his team. His team was responsible for winning the “Raytheon Supplier Excellence Award for five years for the RDSIS program. Jerry devoted his life to his beloved wife and cherished son. One highlight of his life was witnessing Craig’s marriage to Kseniya. It brought him tremendous joy. He was a man who people respected for his family values and integrity. He lived his life to the fullest always putting his family first. Many people admired him, and he was an inspiration to those who worked for him. He enjoyed golfing, fishing with his son and more than anything traveling. Each year was a gathering in the Caribbean with his brother, sister and their children just to enjoy being together, where treasured memories were created. A Catholic Mass for Jerry was held on Monday January 30, 2017 at Our Lady of Prompt Succcor Church in Chalmette, Louisiana at 12 p.m. Family and friends gathered at 10:30 a.m. in the church vestibule for visitation. In lieu flowers the family would appreciate if you do what Jerry did throughout his life: give your time to do a good deed, help anyone who is in need, then post it on his Facebook memorial page.

Darrell John Clark Jr.

Darrell John Clark Jr. was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the age of 35. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Debbie Shows Clark and the late Darrell Clark Sr. He was the loving father of five children, Alieha Pacaccio, Darrell III, Dylan, Delilah Clark and Destiny Blanchard. Brother of Angelle Clark. Grandson of Wilmot R. Shows, the late Florine L. Shows, the late Linda R. Storniolo and Lawrence Storniolo. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Darrell was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He enjoyed all sports at his young age, had a great sense of humor and loved to cook. Darrell loved his children dearly. He will be sadly missed and was loved by so many. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd, Violet, LA., on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time. Joshua Joseph Dullary passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 28. He was the beloved son of Dina Carbello and Joseph H. Dullary Jr. Stepson of Gwen Dullary. Loving brother of Alexis Dullary, Roman Appel and the late Alexandra Short. Grandson of Darlene Dullary & Joseph H. Dullary Sr. (Beth) and Josephine G. O’Brien & the late Michael O’Brien. Great grandson of Leonarda “NaNa” Gioe and the late Calogero Gioe, Doris & Hubert Quakenbush and Blanche Turlan. Nephew of Joel Dullary, Heather Conners, Michael O’Brien (Kazia), Scott O’Brien and the late Carlo Carbello. Cousin of Ryan Cascio and Hailey Cascio. Also survived by many other relatives and friends. Joshua was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and a current resident of Florida. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine School, Our Lady of Prompt Succor School and Chalmette High School. Joshua was a graduate of the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program. Mary was survived by siblings Anthony Gerace and Annie Guerrera, and sister of the late Saraphine, Stella, Rosie, Josephine, Louis, Frank and Sam. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. She was the cherished wife of 56 years to Anthony Henry Oestriecher. Proud grandmother of Scott Oestriecher Jr. (Lyndall), Melinda Garrett (Adam), Kaci Schmidt (Will), Dayton Garrett, Dylan Garrett, Austin Schmidt and Tori Oestriecher. Great grandmother of Lily Oestriecher. Aunt and Godmother of Bradley Keller. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many relatives, cousins, dear friends and her extended family, Amanda, Joseph, Rita, Tyler, Ashleigh, Heather, Rachel, Kallie, Ella Grace and Jace. Earline Jeansonne Silva Roniger entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the age of 89. She was a resident of St. Bernard Parish, LA for 55 years and was currently residing in Jefferson Parish, LA since Hurricane Katrina. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Walter Silva, whom his children loved and miss every day. Loving mother of Arthemise McNeely (Kevin), Eldon Silva (Donna) and the late Donald Silva (the late Carol). Daughter of the late Gilbert and Gladys Jeaneau Jeansonne. Identical twin sister of the late Irene Gremillion. Sister of Mary Dean Watts, Myrtle LaBorde and the late Clifton Jeansonne. Proud grandmother of Scott Silva (Vickie), Faith Cutrera (Nick), Troy Silva (Shannon), Jarrett McNeely, Adele Silva and Mary Silva. Great grandmother of Sarah and Luke Cutrera and Alley and Bailey Silva. In 1981 she married John “Jack” Roniger and together they enjoyed eight years of a loving marriage. We all loved Pa Jack. She loved her stepchildren, John “Johnny” Roniger (Bootsy), Elizabeth “Sissy” Melerine (Ronald) and all the Roniger family. She will be always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her nieces and nephews. She spent her life devoted to her family as a loving homemaker. Alice Marrero Taylor, a retired secretary or Our Lady of Prompt Succor School, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward H. Taylor III. Loving mother of Edward H. Taylor IV (Gail), Alan Taylor and the late Peter Taylor. Daughter of the late Peter Marrero (born in Key West, FL) and Casilda Perez Marrero (born in Galicia, Spain). Sister of the late Carmen Marrero. Aunt of Janeen Odom (Hall) and Colleen Foster Dale (Fred). Grandmother of Megan Taylor Picou (Donald). Great grandmother of Olivia Picou and Victoria Picou. She is also survived and fondly remembered by Matthew Windmann, Christopher Windmann, Nicole Windmann, Joshua Odom, along with many relatives, cousins and dear friends. Alice was a native of Tampa, FL and a longtime resident of Chalmette, LA where she was a devoted parishioner and enjoyed a career as secretary with Our Lady of Prompt Succor School and the St. Louise Toddler Program. Alice loved passing time on her patio watching the hummingbirds, spending time on the beach and being with her friends and family. Dr. Louis Philip Nogues, III, died in the early morning of Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 74. Lou was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Louis P. Nogues, Jr. and the late Shirley St. Alexandre Nogues. He was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 37 years and then lived on Bayou Liberty in Slidell until his death. Affectionately known as Papa Lou or Doc, he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen Ryan Nogues; his son Chris Nogues and wife Cheryl; his daughter Michelle Nogues Morel and husband Remie; his sister Suzanne Nogues and Robert Troncoso. He was Papa Lou to his grandchildren Amanda Ganucheau and husband Ross, Zachary Cunningham, Nicholas Morel, Karolina Nogues, Ryan Morel, and great-granddaughter Riley Ganucheau. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Harold and Barbara Ryan; Dr. Robert and Deborah Ryan; James and Suzanne Ryan; Doug and Marilyn Ryan Oakes; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by his long time dental assistant, Karen Springer, numerous staff, and patients whom he considered family. Lou graduated from Jesuit High School Class of 1960 and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loyola University in 1966. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a dentist. Lou enjoyed learning about anything and everything. He was a lover of art, history, and antiques. He was a collector, pack rat, avid reader, and always enjoyed making a good pun- or a bad one depending on your opinion. Mostly, he loved his family, was loved by many, and will be missed. The Nogues Family would like to thank everyone at the Louisiana Heart Hospital for providing such compassionate care for Lou. Relatives and friends attended the Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 1 p.m. at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 Highway 433, Slidell, LA 70460. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the service time. Interment followed in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, Covington, LA. Bagnell & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Sammy Alfred McRae

Sammy Alfred McRae surrendered peacefully to complications from ALS while surrounded by his loving family at Oasis Hospice of The Woodlands, Texas on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at the age of 69. Sammy was born on February 17, 1948 to Mavis Kidd McRae and Cleveland Edward McRae in Meridian, Mississippi. He was the youngest of four boys. His father relocated the family to the New Orleans area where they lived out the remainder of their years. At the age of 18, Sammy chose to cut short his education and serve his beloved country in the Vietnam era. He was a Marine in all aspects of the word. He served as a Crew Chief on the Huey Helicopters during two tours in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge. However, Sammy always said, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” After returning home to Chalmette, Louisiana he was introduced to the love of his life while on a blind date. Sammy married Janice E. Hines on December 15, 1973. They remained in Chalmette while raising their two sons, Jeffrey K McRae and Bryan E McRae, until Hurricane Katrina. They were an example of love and devotion to all who knew them. Janice was Sammy’s caregiver for nine years during his battle with ALS. Sammy worked at Mother’s Restaurant on Poydras for over 30 years. He began as a butcher and retired as the General Manager. He helped his sons develop a strong work ethic as they each worked along side of him during his tenure there. His parents, brothers Wayne & Harry “Don” McRae, all preceded Sammy in death. Sammy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice H. McRae; son Jeffrey K McRae, his wife Edie D McRae, and their sons Jack & Tyler McRae; son Bryan E McRae, his wife Jill G McRae and their daughter Carly McRae; his brother Gerald E McRae; sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sammy never met a stranger. He was a friend to many. He had a tough exterior, but a heart of gold. Sammy was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the VFW Post 4709 in Montgomery County, Texas. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend gratitude to Oasis Hospice for their service, and to those that diligently assisted the family in caring for Sammy during his illness. A celebration of life and memorial was held for family and friends at Mother’s Next Door on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the ALS Association—Texas Chapter located at 26119 I-45 North, Suite 202, Spring, Texas 77380.

Victoria Mary Catalano Laird passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late James A. Laird for 57 years. Loving mother of Mary Ann Collara (Steve), Alledia L. Tubbs (Kevin), Michael Laird (Elizabeth) and the late James A. Laird Jr. Daughter of the late Michael and Mary Gagliano Catalano. Sister of Anthony Catalano, Margaret Cox, Mary Miller, Sal Catalano and the late Antoinette Badalamenti, Emily Robeau, Vincent Catalano, Frankie Catalano and Lucille Robinson. Proud grandmother of Alyssa (Benjamin), Dominic, James, Jesse, Geena, Victoria, Kristin, Sarah (Joey), Hayden and Rex. Great grandmother of Isabella and Brayden. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Victoria was born in Independence, LA on May 16, 1936 and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who treasured her family. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass began afterward at 4 p.m. She was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Herbert Lee Jordan, formerly of Violet, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the age of 61. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Herbert Jordan and Ms. Ida Mae Williams. He is survived by his Probity Group Home family, longtime friends Mr. Shamus Rohn, Mr. Robert T. Mauss, Mr. Bob Wardlaw and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Herbert graciously allowed the Probity Group Home of Violet, LA to provide services to him for the past six years. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. A Funeral was held at First Baptist Church, 3737 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Smith as the Pastor and Rev. David E. Smith as the Eulogist. Interment followed at First Baptist Church Cemetery. Charbonnet Family Services handled the arrangements.
