Stella Louise Giveans passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the age of 68. She was the beloved daughter of the late Shirley Weber and Alcee Giveans. Sister of the late Calvin Giveans. Step-sister of Frank Rigg and the late Eugene Rigg. Stella is also survived and fondly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Greatly loved and deeply missed by her family and closest of friends: Sally Tanguis, Sharon and David Walter, Whip, Charlie and all whose lives she touched. Services were Private.

Gregory G. Helmstetter Sr. passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the age of 59. He was the beloved father of Gregory G. Helmstetter Jr. and Nicole Louise Helmstetter. Son of the late Raymond and Jeannette Frank Helmstetter. Brother of Glenn D. Helmstetter Sr., Gwen H. Samples and Vickie H. Palermo. Proud grandfather of Cecileigh Helmstetter and Troy Lauga III. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Gregory was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard parish where he was the owner of Greg’s Plumbing, LLC. When he wasn’t hard at work, he would often be found hunting with friends or laughing and playing with his grandkids. He will be forever remembered as our loving and loyal father, grandfather, brother and a friend of many, who respected a hard day’s work and treasured time with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service in Gregory’s memory beginning at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Daughter of the late Joseph Pacaccio and Melanina Damiani Pacaccio. Sister of Anthony Pacaccio, Doris Zehner, Angelina Oster and the late Joseph Pacaccio, Albert Pacaccio, Thomas Pacaccio, Louis Pacaccio, Raphael Siragusa and Mary Laurant. Proud grandmother of David Petone (Tammy), Anthony Petone, Brian Petone Sr. (Tammy), Shelly Downs and Cody Downs. Great grandmother of Brian Petone Jr., Kayla Petone, Justin Petone and Alyssa Petone. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rita was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Rita was an avid reader, she enjoyed gardening and especially looked forward to meeting with her Pokeno Card Club. Caroline Hall Mutz passed away on June 8, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Mutz. Mother of Deborah Mutz, Catherine M. Blankenship (Scott) and Steven R. Mutz (Cheryl). Grandmother of Becky, Michael, Nicholas and Ali. Sister of Jim Hall (Carol) and Rosie Koinzan. Daughter of the late James Hall and Gwendolyn Shoaf Hall Bonaci (the late Joe). Also survived by other loving relatives and friends. Caroline graduated from L.S.U.N.O. with her BA in Special Education and earned her M.Ed. from U.N.O. She taught Special Education with Jefferson Parish, St. Bernard Parish and Plaquemines Parish public schools. As a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Harvey, she was very active and worked closely with their pre-school program as well as the Church board with different projects and campaigns. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and leaves behind many friends. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts and minds of so many and while she will be sadly missed, her life will be celebrated. Son of the late Bernard Philippe Sorbet and Jeanne Marie Appoline Laporte Sorbet. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Ida Philomene Blanchard Sorbet. Father of Henry, Jr. (Ruth) and Rodney Sorbet, and the late Gail Ann Sorbet. Brother of the late Suzanne Fenton, Bernard, Alice, John, and Lionel Sorbet. Cousin/Brother of the late Marcel and Helen Sorbet, and Louise Sofio. Grandfather of Jonathan Joseph (Alison), Gregory Alan (Stefanie), and Amy Renee’ Sorbet Wiltz (Scott). Loving great grandfather of Kaitlyn Sorbet, Gayle Wiltz, Sydney Sorbet, Noel Wiltz, Ryan and Ashleigh Sorbet, Peter Wiltz, Owen, Cortney and Eli Sorbet. Loving father of Amy Brown (Easton), Chris Jeansonne Jr., Candi Jeansonne, Mickey Jeansonne, Shane Jeansonne and the late Marco Jeansonne. Son of of the late Howard Jeansonne Allie Marroy Jeansonne. Brother of Tony “Te-T’on” Jeansonne. Proud grandfather of Marayah, Marco, Haley, Maci, Rashadd, Trey, Lily and Lil Chris. Henry “Teta” Martinez Sr. gained his wings on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the age of 79. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his life. He was the son of the late Joseph Martinez and Lillian Martinez Borden. Brother of the late Emmett Nunez and Glinda Kieff. Beloved husband of 43 years to Mona Lisa Martinez. Loving father of Timothy Martinez Sr. (Sharon), Zane Bryant Sr. (Mary), Sharon Taylor, Sharlene Taylor, Henry Martinez Jr. (Lori) and the late Anthony Martinez Sr. (Diane). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dear friends. Henry was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish where he enjoyed a long career as a commercial fisherman. Joshua David Chautin

Joshua David Chautin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans at the age of 14. He was a resident of Kiln, Mississippi and a former resident of St. Bernard Parish. Joshua began making the world a better place when he was born on January 10, 2002 at East Jefferson Hospital. He began his nearly 11-year battle with leukemia shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It would come back again in early 2013, and most recently in June of this year. Throughout it all, Joshua remained strong and courageous and always wore a smile. He loved chicken Rice-A-Roni, pizza, board and video games, the Saints, the LSU Tigers, and pretty girls. He leaves behind a family that loved him deeply, including his parents Erin and Kim (McDaniel) Chautin, of Kiln, Mississippi, his older sister Tiffany and his twin brother Colby, also of Kiln; his paternal grandmother Beverlyn Chautin, of Kiln, Mississippi; his maternal grandparents Kelvin and Cherye McDaniel, of Stoney Point, Louisiana; maternal great-grandparents John and Velma Lancaster, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; aunts and uncles Dianna Chautin, Erwin Chautin, Dean and Janelle (Chautin) Alfonso, Eric Chautin, Stephen and Kelly (McDaniel) McElveen, and Charlie and Crystal (McDaniel) McElroy; cousins Melissa, John, Jessica, and River Alfonso, Mack, Gentry, and Kennedy McElveen, and Emma and Eli Mason; a large extended family, and a host of friends and classmates at Hancock Middle School that loved him as family. Joshua was well-known by many that followed his battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and most recently, treatment-related Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was covered in prayer for the last 10 years, 9 months, and 2 weeks. Joshua was preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven by his paternal grandfather Erwin Chautin and his great-grandmother Leatrice McDaniel. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the medical staff at Ochsner Hospital for Children that have treated Joshua over the years; most especially, Drs. Lotterman, Vasquez, and Fletcher and Nurses Michelle, Angela, Nicole, and Caroline. Funeral services for Joshua were held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Bro. Willie Tebo and Bro. Brent King offi ciated the services. He was laid to rest at in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Alfonso, River Alfonso, Mack McElveen, Gentry McElveen, Lloyd ‘Trey” Poincot III, Cory LeBlanc, and Melvin Enmon.
