Jeannette LaCour St. Clair passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Curtis Pippins and the late William St. Clair for many years. Loving mother of William St. Clair Jr. (Jennifer), Kathleen Barbier (Ricky), Jude St. Clair (Kelly) and Patrick St. Clair (Tina). She was the oldest daughter of the late Vance LaCour and Alicia Plauche LaCour. Sister of Gretta Ponticelli (Louie), Alicia Kornick (Mike) and the late Larry LaCour (Leslee). Proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by two step-daughters and many nieces & nephews. Jeannette was born on September 16, 1932 in Plaucheville, LA, and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She believed in an honest, hard day’s work and being active while enjoying the company of her friends and family. She would often be found painting or tending to her garden and so loved singing in the choir. She cared deeply for others and made the most from the simple pleasures of everyday life. She’ll be fondly remembered for her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Angelle T. Avants, born on November 10, 1971, gained her angel wings on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the age of 45. She is survived by her fiancé, Aaron Lunt. She is also survived by her two sons, Cory Reis (Catherine), Channing Reis, her granddaughter Seren Reis, her step-daughter Morgan Lunt, her brother Kenny Fayard Jr. (Tyler), her sisters Shannon Cosse (Corey), Kelly Swaby, her parents Linda Schiro and Joseph Cosgrove Jr. She is also fondly remembered by her adopted father Kenny Fayard Sr., her precious fur baby “Voodoo,” her Paran Jay Autin and godmother Anna Fayard, along with many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Velma Hoffmann & T.J. Hymel, her paternal grandparents Joe & Marguerite Cosgrove and Jimmy & Pat Fayard. Capt. Stephen “Steve” William Thompson
Captain Stephen “Steve” William Thompson passed away, peacefully, in his sleep, on August 18, 2017, at the age of 54. Steve was the beloved husband of Rhonda Cornwall Thompson, the brother of Randy Thompson, and the brother-in-law of Heidi and Bruce Guerra, Jr., and Dana and Larry Arcement. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Trudy Hebert Thompson; his father, Harry W. Thompson, Jr.; and his sister, Toni Ann Thompson McKeever. In addition to his wife, Rhonda, Steve also had two other loves in his life, his Labrador retrievers, Sadie and Daisy. Not only were Sadie and Daisy Steve’s loyal hunting partners, they were also considered to be his four-legged children. While Steve was preceded in death by Sadie, Daisy is still with us, and she will deeply miss her master, her friend, her hunting partner, her soulmate, her Steve. Steve is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Steve was a licensed 200 ton U.S.C.G. merchant marine, and was the captain onboard various jack-up/lift vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. During his career, Steve was employed by Crew Boats, Inc., Superior Energy Services, and Laredo Offshore. Steve was also a charter fishing captain. Steve’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he thoroughly enjoyed both, all throughout his lifetime. Steve was very friendly, had a huge heart, and was always smiling. Eloise “Mickey” George Skelly Bergkoetter
Eloise “Mickey” George Skelly Bergkoetter, beloved wife of Virgil Bergkoetter and beloved widow of James E. Skelly, Jr. passed peacefully away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 1 a.m. in Sycamore Village in Swansea, Illinois, at the age of 86. She was a resident of Okawville, Illinois, for the past eight years and formerly a resident of Chalmette, Louisiana. Born and raised in New Orleans, Mickey enjoyed the New Orleans culture, especially New Orleans Saints football games. A long-time employee of Dixie Mill Supply and Cahn Enterprises, Mickey was proficient in and enjoyed bookkeeping, as well as helping to manage and maintain French Quarter apartments during her working career. Mickey was the only child born to Andrew George and Christine Casella on October 19, 1930. She was married to James E. Skelly, Jr. for 53 years at the time of his passing on June 19, 2005. Together they raised three children, Susan Skelly Evans (Robert), Sandra Skelly Guidry (Clint) and Dr. Stephanie Skelly (Joe Toler). Grandmother to Douglas Evans, Alison Evans Burks, Christina Guidry, Isabelle Toler and Josie Toler and great grandmother to Bailey Burks and Brady Burks. Mickey is also survived by her stepson, James E. Skelly, III (Alice); several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. Beloved aunt, niece and friend to many. During the last eight years in Okawville, Mickey with her husband Virgil together enjoyed dancing, raising their vegetable garden, some traveling and being with their friends. Mickey’s beautiful voice and love of singing was a blessing to many, and she routinely sang in church and at weddings. She had the privilege of singing for Saint John Paul II when he visited New Orleans in September of 1987. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Kirk Howard Lewis, Sr. passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Kirk H. Lewis, Jr.; his father Frank A. Edwin John Cantrell passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 79. He was resident of St. Bernard Parish until moving to Carriere, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Eddie was a veteran of the US Army and spent his career as a machinist with Boeing and Lockheed Martin. He retired in 2003 to spend time with family, travel, and enjoy his lifelong passion of fishing. He loved the tranquility of his back yard on the lake and working in his vegetable garden. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Picayune. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Ballard Cantrell of Picayune, Loving father of Edwin Cantrell, Jr of Chalmette, Lori Cantrell Ellisor (Perry) of Picayune, Jolie Cantrell Clack (David) of Lacombe, and Annie Cantrell (Force) of Metairie. He is brother of Frank Cantrell of Chalmette, Vita Lauga of Chalmette, and Diane Taylor of Ruston. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Jason E. Cantrell, Katie Cantrell (Brad), Jennie Cantrell (George), Missy Lacoste (Brian), Aiden Force, Riot Force, and 4 great-grandchildren, Brookelynn, Landon, Roman, and Ryder. Ed is loved and will be sorely missed by a host of other family, friends, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and loyal dog Benji. Warren Allen Perez, Sr. or “WAP” as he was affectionately known to almost everyone, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 with his family surrounding him at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elsie F. Baker, his father, Warren Edward Perez and his brother, Wesley V. Perez, Sr. Warren is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Linda Laine Perez, his mother, Evelyn B. Perez, his siblings, Beverly Pentney (Hugh), David Perez (Kathy), and Eloise Terry (Gene), his children Warren (Allen) Perez, Jr. (Dawne), Chrissie Lauricella (Leo), and Susan Perez (Butch), and his step children Denise Burdette (Chip) and Keith Bordelon (Christina). Also, his grandson Cameryn Perez, who was like a son to him. He had eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Warren was a kind-hearted man who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his kindness, generosity and caring heart. He loved traveling when he could and would talk about all the places he would like to see. He enjoyed designing and building projects and took great pride in being known as a jack-of-all-trades. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Wanda Rae Thomas Miller, married on December 28, 1954 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Delgado with degrees in Aircraft Mechanics and Drafting. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1951-1955. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years as General Foreman and Owner/Operator of A&A Truck Service. He was a devoted member of the Braithwaite Lions Club and Member of Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Bertrandville, LA. Al loved fishing, baseball (The Boston Red Sox), golf, gardening, camping, cruising (especially soft-serve Ice Cream), traveling and #1 fan of his baseball playing son, grandsons, great-grandsons and friends. Frequent spectator at Val Reiss Park. He was an avid Saints fan even back in the day when everyone else wore bags on their heads. Al loved sharing breakfast at Charlie’s Restaurant with his beloved “gang.” He was well-loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend of many, who loved his country and treasured his friends and family. Roy Joseph LeBlanc passed away at Ochsner Baptist Hospital on August 25, 2017 at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife Dolores Stakes LeBlanc of 67 years of marriage. Loving father of two daughters; Phyllis Fontenot, husband Ellis Fontenot and daughter; Susan Verrette. He was one of four children born to Eddie LeBlanc and Clotille Clement LeBlanc. Proud grandfather of two grandsons; Craig and Dale Fontenot and one granddaughter; Natalie Verrette Landers. Also survived by his great-granddaughter; Katie Fontenot, and two great-grandsons; Nathan Fontenot and Dylan Schetrompf. Roy was born on November 27, 1924 in Thibodaux, LA and was a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA. He was a proud United States Army Veteran and a survivor of the Korean War. Roy worked on a Fire Boat for the Board of Commissioners for 37 and a half years. He loved to cook, fish, and sew crab nets, which he passed down to his grandchildren; he also loved to eat crabs. Pauline G. Eppinette passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Murphy W. Eppinette Sr. Loving mother of Brenda Eppinette, Murphy Eppinette Jr. (Pam) and Angel Cedarleaf (Russell). Daughter of the late Herbert Godwin and Angela Daboval Godwin. Sister of Mary Louise Buckley, Frank Godwin and the late David Godwin and Tommy Godwin. Proud grandmother of Joei Lauga, Juli Maillet, Jeorge Wahl, Sean Eppinette Sr., Melissa Watson, D. Keith Fincher, Jourdan Fincher and Taylor Cedarleaf. Great grandmother of Jeorgia Wahl, Juliana Wahl, Stevi Maillet, Sean Eppinette Jr., Samuel Eppinette, Maxwell Eppinette, Brennan Watson, Landry Watson, Camille Fincher, Lucas Fincher and Isaac Cedarleaf. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Pauline was born on April 10, 1930 in New Orleans, LA. She was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and a current resident of Ft. Worth, TX. Pauline was a people person and did quite well with her iPad for a senior. She loved Facebook, chocolate ice cream and bird watching. She even had her own binoculars. Granny was always ready to be the star of any picture. Early on in her Christian walk (1973) she loved to sing in the choir. At one point she felt useless because of her age but soon after she realized that she was the Prayer Warrior for her family and friends. Everyone would call Granny and she would put them on her prayer list and pray faithfully every day for that person. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and funeral service held at Church of the King, 22205 Little Creek Rd, Mandeville, LA on Monday, August 28, 2017. Frank “Frankie” Edmond Cavalier
Frank “Frankie” Edmond Cavalier passed away at his home in Mandeville, LA at the age of 70. Frankie was born on June 25, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Amelia Olivia Miller Cavalier and Frank Seagle Cavalier. He is brother to the late Janice Cavalier January. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sister, Lydia Cavalier Gagnard; cousin, Deborah Moulin Wimer; nieces, Jill January Ancalade Poche and Dana Gagnard Avila; nephews, George Daniel January, Jr. and Craig Raymond Gagnard. He is the Godchild of Bernice Peuler. Frankie also has great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, family members and many friends. In his spare time Frankie enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, poker and spending time with his wonderful, loving, loyal, and caring Sister, Lydia Gagnard and Cousin Deborah “Debbie” Wimer, putting puzzles together and talking. He was well-loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. Janice Gagliano Ancalade passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the age of 66. Loving mother of Sheri Russell (Tracy Sr.) and Mark Ancalade (Ashlee). Daughter of the late Anthony Gagliano Sr. and Genevieve Fontana Gagliano. Sister of Mathew Gagliano, Linda Bennett (Romel), Perry Gagliano (Debbie), and the late Vincent Gagliano Sr., Lena Mae Rabalais, Anthony Gagliano Jr., Joseph Gagliano Sr. and Nicky Gagliano Sr. Proud Grandmother of Tracy Russell Jr., Zachary Russell, Dominick Ancalade, Andre Ancalade and Francesca Ancalade. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Janice was born on February 21, 1951 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. After 50 years of dedication to Adler’s she retired. The Adler’s Family treated her as part of their family. Her purpose in life was Adler’s. Her pride and joy was to love her grandkids and family. She imparted to her children the importance of family. Mark and Sheri are the parents they are today because of her example. She took on many rolls such as Mother, Nana, Aunt, Friend, Everything, and Our Hero! Janice will be dearly missed, forever loved, never forgotten by her family and friends. T aylor Louis Chauppette passed away peac ful ly at his home surrounded by family on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 19. He is survived by his mother Caroline Chauppette and his brother Carlos Acosta Jr. of Chalmette, LA. His uncle Bertin Esteves III and aunts Michele Thevenot (Bobby), Angele “Nana” Esteves and Mignon Dittmer. He was loved by his cousins Brett Esteves II, Victor Esteves, Andrea Davis, Allie Davis, Mackenzie Dittmer and Mollie Dittmer. Also survived and fondly remembered by his recently met cousins, other relatives and great friends. Taylor is preceded in death by his grandmother Carol Anne Paine Chauppette, his grandfather Vincent M. Chauppette, his great-grandmother Anne M. Paine and uncles Bret Esteves and Todd Dittmer. Taylor was born on April 24, 1998 in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Alan Herman Finkelstein passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Gayle Defourneaux Finkelstein. Loving father of AJ Finkelstein (Jan), Eddie Finkelstein, Lisa Brouillette (Jim), Barbara Williamson, Gayle Livaccari (Eppy) and David Finkelstein (Terri). Son of the late Solomon and Rose Latter Finkelstein. Brother of the late Harry Finkelstein (Leona) and Selma Blotner (Joe). Brother-in-law of Carol Schlink. Proud grandfather of Joseph & Eppy Livaccari, Gavin & Ricky Williamson, Jennifer Gauthier, Courtney Nunez, Austin Finkelstein, Brian & Lajette Scott and Isabella Finkelstein. Great grandfather of Clifton & Dixie Mullen. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and especially his dog, Sweetie. Alan was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where he enjoyed a long career as a grain inspector, along with spending time with his family and friends. He was well-loved and will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend of many, who loved his trips to the casino and treasured his family and friends.
