Carmen Maria Toruno Nassar passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the age of 93. She was the cherished wife of 46 years to the late Carlos Nassar Sr. Loving mother of Xiomara Nassar, Elizabeth Nassar and Carlos Nassar Jr. (Pearl). Daughter of the late Gonzalo and Carmen Toruno. Proud grandmother of Patric Nassar (Jolie), Marisa Nassar, Jay Pomes and Louis Pomes. Great grandmother of Jenna Nassar and Bentley Nassar. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Carmen was born in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras and was a current resident of Gonzales, LA. She will forever be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and her everlasting love for her grandchildren. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. The family of Carmen would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Covenant House Nursing Home and Passages Hospice for their care and compassion when it was needed most. Dennis G. Jeanfreau, born on July 13, 1950, passed away peacefully at his home on July 7, 2017 at the age of 66. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some small way throughout his very memorable life. He was the beloved and devoted husband of 43 years to Susan Schubert Jeanfreau. Loving father of Brandy Byrd Evans (Wayne “Toot”) and Brooke Jeanfreau (Donald Rush). Proud grandfather of Tyler Byrd, Logan Byrd and Caleigh Evans. Son of the late Leo and Bessie Jeanfreau. Brother of Frederick Jeanfreau (the late Pat), Barbara Deville (Gram), Fay Kline (Renee) and the late Larry Jeanfreau. Brother-in-law of Anne Van Winkle (Ronnie “PeeWee”), Patti Menesses (Michael) and Earline Brady (James). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins and dear friends. Dennis was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed a long career with Brown and Root, where he was well liked by all of his co-workers. Dennis loved spending time and spoiling his grandchildren and his girls, enjoyed being outdoors, and loved hunting and fishing. He will be forever loved and dearly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Stepmother of Brandy Robertson (L.J.), Jennifer Barber (John), Rebecca Bates (Anthony) and Robert “Bobby” Dakin Jr. (Heather). Daughter of Joyce Casanovas Risbourg and the late Charles Imhoff. Sister of Charles Imhoff (Marsha), Joy Risbourg and Amy Ola (the late Kenny). Proud grandmother of Arabella Landry, Loclynn Steel and Paisley Steel. Step-grandmother of Chase, Trae, Emma, James and Logan. Aunt of Devin Risbourg, Kelley Ola and Kenny Ola Jr. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and especially Gretchen Ballard, Annabel Imhoff and Patty Brown. Susan was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and a friend of many who was always on the lookout for a good garage sale and treasured her friends and family. Mylane Rose “Mollie” Adams Catalano, widow of Peter Catalano of New Orleans died Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born in New Orleans, and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Chalmette and Kenner, LA. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Adams and the late William Stanley. She is survived by her only son, Wayne P. Catalano and his wife Susan Anne Durnin Catalano and her only grandson, Michael J. Catalano, all whom are born in New Orleans, LA. Also survived by two of her eight siblings: Ruth “Ruthie” Wilson from Florida and Manuella “Nonie” Moon from Texas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Shoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Bernard “Bernie” Harold Dorcey passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 75. Bernie was born in New Orleans to the late Bernard Michael and Emelda Gonzales Dorcey and was a long-time resident of Chalmette, LA. He was the loving husband of Kay Clark Dorcey; loving father of Debbie DiCarlo (David), Julie Vignes (Sidney), Denise Cazaubon (Ralph) and Danny Dorcey (Stefani); adoring grandfather of Stephanie Carreras (Danny), Christian Vignes, Brandon Cazaubon, Kaycee Vignes, Kaila Vignes, Madison Cazaubon, Veda Grace Dorcey and Demi Dorcey; loving great-grandfather to Tyler Carreras, Cooper Carreras and Kamryn McCardell; devoted brother of Judy Interanto (John) and Tommy Dorcey (Leslie) and nephew of Kay Duet (Larry). Brother in Law of George Clark, Diane Puderer (Roy) and Johnny Clark. Bernie is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. One of the most important things in Bernie’s life was his love of family. After serving in the Marines out of high school, Bernie was a long-time employee of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District. Bernie was a lifetime fan of baseball. He was a member of the Veterans Umpires Association for many years, serving as both assigning secretary and president. A highlight of his life was seeing the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Bernie truly believed dogs were man’s best friend. He always had a dog (usually more than one) in his life, including stray dogs he just could not turn away. Kim Angie Sansone Loftis, born on January 25, 1959 and passed away on June 2, 2017 due to complications from cancer at the age of 58. She was the beloved companion of Dan Miller. Daughter of the late Antonina DiVicenti Loftis and William Robert Loftis. Sister of William Randy Loftis (Therese Lee Loftis) and Laurie Loftis Dewald. Half-sister of Johnny Loftis and Vicki Loftis Pregeant. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends, along with her coworkers at Tanbark Rehab and Wellness Center in Lexington, KY. Kim was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, settling in Lexington, KY since Hurricane Katrina. Although Kim’s illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Before her illness, Kim truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures of going to the movies and listening to her favorite music with family and friends. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her love, kindness, laughter and compassion. Services in Kim’s memory are private.

Leo J. Rose, Jr., passed away on June 28, 2017at the age of 89. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo, Sr., and Roberta Alison Rose; father and mother inlaw, James and Sarah Cortese Brocato. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Concetta Brocato Rose; son, Leo J. Rose III, daughters, Alison Rose Carlin and Jennifer M. Rose (Joseph Canatella); son in-law, John G. Carlin; beloved grandson, Donovan J. Carlin; brother in-law, Joseph B. Cali; sister in-law, Elizabeth B. Cali, and a host of nieces and nephews. Leo graduated from Francis T. Nichols in 1946 and he attended Loyola University. He served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany with the 4th Division, 22nd Infantry from 1950 to 1952. He retired from the Expressway Medical Center, Harvey, Louisiana. Leo was a very dignified, strong, intelligent, caring man with a deep love of faith and family. He loved being an integral part of his grandson’s life. Whatever he was involved in, PawPaw was always there. David Ray Hix passed away at his earthly home in Meraux, LA and entered his heavenly home on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the age of 69. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Meraux, and was born on October 5, 1947 to the late Johnny and Mary Young Hix in Fort Worth, TX. David served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He spent his childhood in Fort Worth graduating from Polytechnic High School and then lived in various places in Texas before moving to Louisiana in 2006. It was there he met and married Lori Ann Mennesses on August 12, 2006 and made their home in Meraux. David is survived by his wife Lori; one brother, Lyndel Hix ( Brenda ) of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Colleen Martin (Clay) of Arlington, TX; one son, Trent Hix of Colorado; mother in law, Catherine Menesses of Meraux, LA; sister in law, Donna Cochran (Mickey). Also survived by three nephews, three nieces, various great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. A Funeral Service was held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Family Services, 4917 E. Judge Perez Drive on Th ursday, July 27, 2017. Interment was at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.

James Casper Mills Jr. passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Dolores Brinker for 64 years. Loving father of Janis Mills Lamanette (Ronald) and James C. Mills III, M.D. (Kim). Son of the late James Casper Mills Sr. and Miriam Siebrandt Mills. Brother of Audrey M. Wild and the late Miriam M. Riche. Proud grandfather of Melissa L. Boos (Jason), James C. Mills IV and Christopher J. Mills. Great grandfather of Mason J. Boos and Madison A. Boos. Also survived and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. James was born on February 17, 1930 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Since 2007 he has resided in Madisonville, LA. James was a proud United States Navy Reserve veteran and was honorably discharged after eight years of service. He was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for 25 years and served as President for over 5 years. James was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion honoring his devotion of time and talent to the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He will be forever remembered as a great man who was devoted to his family and faith. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Sue Ann Simmonds Nunez passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 24, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. She was the beloved wife of Rickie Joseph Nunez. Besides her husband, she leaves behind her three children, Michael Stephen and Christy Lynn Borrel and Rickie Jacob Nunez, as well as her grandchildren Victoria and Jacob Michalik and Nicholas and Nathan Brown. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Rubye Long Simmonds and the late Lilac Simmonds. She was the sister of the late Judy Simmonds and Jackie Carbo (Joe). She is survived by her sister Evelyn “Fran” Simmonds, her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Nunez, nephews Eric Nunez and the late Mark Nunez and her godson and nephew Joseph Carbo (Crystal). She is also survived by a host of family and friends. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital and the nurses of Passages Hospice. Gerard Keith Simone, Sr. of Mandeville, LA passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 60. He was born on Monday, December 17, 1956 in New Orleans, LA to the late Frank Simone and the late Edith Egan Simone. Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Garcia Simone and his two children Gerard Keith Simone, Jr. and Brittany Kay Simone. He is also survived by his brother Frank Simone and wife Elise, as well as a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his cousin Vanessa Melancon. Keith grew up in Arabi, LA and graduated from Chalmette High School. After graduation, he began his career with Jefferson Parish Sheriff ’s Office. Throughout his 38 years with JPSO, Keith led a successful career and achieved the rank of Major and Commander of the Narcotics Division. He was a highly decorated officer and well respected by the entire JPSO family. Proud grandfather of Kaytilin Noble, Victoria Lepley, Thomas Lepley and Era Snyder. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alan was born on January 21, 1957 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a commercial fisherman and recreational hunter. Alan also enjoyed carpentry and building things with his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services were private. Drucilla Charlotte Bradley passed away on July 26, 2017 at her home in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 94. She was born on December 1, 1922. Drucilla lived in her beloved New Orleans all her life until moving to Tallahassee in 2005 to be near her niece. Drucilla was an educator for the New Orleans/St. Bernard Parish school district. She is survived by two nieces Vyanne Humphreys and Gail Perego, and a nephew Rowland Bradley. She is loved by many cousins and friends. Her bright blue eyes and shining smile will be missed. The funeral mass was held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee. Interment took place in New Orleans at St. Patrick’s Cemetery #1 on Friday, August 4, 2017. Gifts in memory of Miss Bradley may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee is assisting the family with their arrangements.

AnnaBelle Jastram LaHoste passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Oscar Lahoste, Jr. “her honey” for 50 years. Loving mother of Ronald LaHoste Sr. (Jan), Gwendolyn “Sissy” Noonan (Terry) and Judy Lombus (the late Larry). Proud grandmother of Ronny Jr., Robin, Chad, Brad, Somer, Blake, Dustin and Shelli. Also survived and fondly remembered by her 9 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, dear loved ones Patricia Cassagne, brothers-in-law Raymond and Joseph LaHoste and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Gustave Jastram and Josephine Lavignette Jastram; brother Charles Jastram Sr.; sister Wilhemina Daniels and granddaughter Kelli Bindewald. AnnaBelle proudly served in World War II as a United States Coast Guard Spar at the young age of 19. She enjoyed working with her honey in their business, Oscar’s Jewelry. AnnaBelle later enjoyed working as a designer of costumes for the royal courts of Mardi Gras balls. She was a dedicated fan of watching her grandsons play ball from recreation through high school. AnnaBelle dearly loved her family and was always a phone call away if needed. She and her honey enjoyed 50 years of dancing and socializing with dear friends. Annabelle was born in New Orleans, LA, and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 65 years. She spent the last three years of her life in the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, and was known as the “Ginger Rogers” of the home as she danced until the end of her life. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, August 12, 2017 followed by a funeral service.
