Tina Marie Harrington passed away on August 7, 2018 at the age of 53. She was the loving wife of Troy Harrington, Sr. Devoted mother of Angel Pitre (Ralph, III), Troy, Jr., Tyler, Hanna, Tori and the late Amber Harrington. Grandmother of Ava Marie Pitre. Sister of Hattie Nelms and Annzel Gaupp. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Harriet Gaupp and her siblings, Harrison Gaupp and Horace Gaupp. Tina loved her family, always making sure they were taken care of, and always made them her top priority. She also worked at Rocky & Carlos for 25 years. She loved to help others, and did so as often as she could, never asking for anything in return. David John Hamburger
David John Hamburger, a longtime resident of Chalmette, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the age of 67. He was born March 6, 1951 in New Orleans to Wilbur and Maud Hamburger. He met Deborah Jean Ryan while he was a junior at Chalmette High School and she was a junior at Holy Angels Academy. Th ey married in 1970, and celebrated their 48th anniversary earlier this year. He graduated from Chalmette High School in 1969 and went on to graduate from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge in 1973. After initially working for the Forestry Service in Arkansas, he returned to Chalmette where he lived and raised his family. David worked in the sheet metal industry for years at Nadustco in New Orleans and was also an instructor with Delgado Community College. He later joined SGS North America and ultimately retired in 2016 as an Operations Coordinator. He also earned his real estate license in the 1980s, and he continued to serve the community as a licensed realtor until he passed. Additionally, he proudly served as a Reserve Deputy with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff ’s Office for 20 years. He was incredibly generous with his time and talents, and he never missed an opportunity to help his family and friends. He enjoyed serving his boiled crawfish in the spring and his fried turkeys in the fall. Vacationing with his family was always a joy for him, and some of his favorite destinations were the Tennessee Smokey Mountains and Disney World. He enjoyed many of the local opportunities for music and celebration, frequenting local festivals with his family through the years—Oktoberfest was always a favorite. He was a gifted craftsman and loved taking on projects that involved working with his hands. Most importantly, he was a strong believer, resolute in his Christian faith, and the spiritual head of his household. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; sons and daughter-in-law Matthew Hamburger, Jonathan and Heidi Hamburger, and Christopher Hamburger; daughters and son-in-law Amanda and Keith Carmon, and Christine Hoover; grandchildren Joshua Brice, David Franklin, Madison Leigh, Michael Robert, Paige Noel, Antoinette, and Guinevere; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Nancy Hamburger; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joseph “Papa Joe” Ebey entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 after a long term battle with COPD and Parkinson’s at the age of 77. Joseph was born in Pineville, LA on February 6, 1941 to Fred and Lilly Laprarie Ebey. He spent most of his life in Saint Bernard, Louisiana and Coffeeville, Alabama, where he loved to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lilly Laprarie Ebey, siblings, Clarence, Flynn, Herman, Charles, Cecil, Allie Mae, Annie Lee and Maddie Bell, daughter Lillie Ebey and grandson Joseph Ebey. Joseph was a beloved Father to John Ebey and Sandra Kay Deluna. Grandfather to Brittany Ebey (Darren), Jospeh Ebey (Melissa) and Noah Deluna, Carmella and Bella. Great-Grandfather to Triston, Lillie, Brooklyn, Joseph, Arianna, Kaitlyn and Luke. Also survived by a host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins and dear friends. Brian Joseph Dobronich, beloved son of George and Valencia Dobronich, passed away on August 12, 2018 at the age of 48. He was the brother of Chris Dobronich and Gina Dobronich Caruso. Brother-in-law of David Caruso. He was the uncle of Krista, Connor, Jaxon and Blakely Dobronich. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Brian loved his family, enjoyed fishing, and adored his dear dog, CoCo. He will be forever missed, and was loved dearly by all who knew him. Marie Ragusa Chaussy died peacefully at home on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the age of 89. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and resided in Chalmette until Hurricane Katrina, before relocating to Pearl River. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Chaussy. Mother of Charles Chaussy (Beverly), Michael Chaussy, Patricia Rholdon (Richard) and Peggy Lala (Joseph). Grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Joseph and Delores Ragusa. Sister of the late Catherine Giampietro and Anthony Ragusa. Rev. Ralph E. Blevins
Rev. Ralph E. Blevins of Brenham, TX, passed away on August 16, 2018 after a long illness at the age of 94. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter Sue, sons-in-law Bennie and Gene, he is survived by his beloved wife of 76 years, Florene; his daughter Linda Blevins Fitzwater of New Ulm, Texas and his son Timothy R. Blevins (Mark Yeager) of Oakland, California. He is also survived by his “adopted” son Mui Qui Bong (Dan Kim Tam) and his “grandchildren” Vy, Ylan and Dan and their respective spouses and children. Following service in the Navy during WWII, Ralph graduated with a B.A. from the Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK. Encouraged by a mentor, he enlisted in the New Orleans Baptist Th eological Seminary to continue his training for ministry, graduating in 1952 with a Masters of Divinity. As a student, he was a mission pastor in Arabi, Louisiana and became the first pastor of the First Baptist Church of Arabi where he pastored the church for over 30 years until his retirement in 1986. During his career as a Baptist pastor, he served in many leadership roles at the regional and state levels of Southern Baptist life. Hurricane Katrina swept away Ralph’s New Orleans-based life and he and his wife moved to Brenham to be near their daughter. Although he always missed Arabi, New Orleans and the many beloved church members from over the years, he developed a fondness for Brenham and the new friends he made. He especially loved singing in the choir of Brenham’s First Baptist Church. A memorial service was held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main Street, Brenham, TX. A Visitation with the family was also held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at St. Bernard Memorial Garden and Funeral Home in Chalmette, LA. Robert Christian Bracamontes Jr. "Uncle Bob" was born on February 14, 1936 and passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on August 22, 2018 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gail Bracamontes, his brother Westley Bracamontes and his parents Robert and Beatrice Bracamontes. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Janice Bracamontes, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Robert was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 56 years. Following hurricane Katrina, he settled in Luling, LA for the past 13 years until his death. He was employed by Domino Sugar Refinery in Chalmette for 32 years and became the EOC Director of St. Bernard Parish for the next 20-plus years until his retirement. Bob will always be remembered as a devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. Leandro “Lenny” Juan Ferrer passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the age of 73. He was the beloved son of the late Jose and Bertha Ferrer. Brother of Catalina Ferrer Mullen, Dennis Ferrer and the late Philip Ferrer and Francisco Ferrer. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his longtime companion, caregiver and faithful friend Edward C. Granati, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Leandro was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He enjoyed a 40-year career as Head Cashier with Merrill Lynch and proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. His love for celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans was surpassed only by his love for Gone with the Wind. He will always be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his family and friends, his caring and loving spirit, his laughter, and watching Gone with the Wind, again. Christopher A. Marks passed away unexpectedly at East Jefferson General Hospital on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 62. He resided in Metairie, Louisiana, and grew up in Chalmette, LA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Bosco Marks; his loving daughter, Brandi Marks Theard (David) and three grandchildren, Jack David, Alex Claire, and Evan Joseph Theard. He is also survived by his sisters, Cynthia Marks and Cheryl Marks Ward (Donald); brother Carl Marks (Rachel); sister-in-law Carolyn Bosco Browning (Michael) and brother-in-law, Gil Bosco (the late Gay Gleason Bosco); and six nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Oswald Arthur Marks, Jr. and Marianne Ledet Marks; nephew, Michael Anthony Browning. Chris graduated from Brother Martin High School as the first all Martin Class of 1973. He attended Tulane University and University of Lafayette and retired after many years as a Senior Designer of oilrigs. He was an avid golfer and football fan but playing with his grandchildren daily was his true joy in life. Chris was a faithful parishioner of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. Charles Joseph “C.J.” Cambise passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 in Marksville, Louisiana, at the age of 85. Charles was the beloved son of the late Dominick Cambise and Roseline (Rose) Celino Cambise. He was born in New Orleans April 4, 1933 and was a resident of Arabi, LA until Hurricane Katrina, when he relocated to Marksville, LA. Charles was an active member of St. Louise De Marillac Church in Arabi before moving to Marksville. He was an honorary member of The Knights of Columbus Council 1217 in Marksville and past Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus Clarence Hug Council 10554 in Arabi. He retired from a long career with Woodward Wight and Eastover Country Club. Charles will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his cousins and many friends. Mr. Kenney also worked for Garden Bowl and Fazzio Bowling. He was of the Lutheran faith and attended First English Lutheran Church, New Orleans, LA. Mr. Kenny was a Little League Baseball Coach at Rebel Park, Chalmette, LA. Preceded in death by his parents Loyd R. and Estelle Tassin Kenney, Sr.; daughter Lorie Lynn Kenney; grandmother Viola Tassin-Brown; grandmother Sarah Kenney. Danielle Roig Kestler passed away Friday, August 17, 2018, at the young age of 48. Danielle is survived by her husband, George Peri Kestler Jr., and her children, Alexa Danielle Kestler and Trent Kestler, as well as her stepdaughter, Brittany Michelle Kestler and granddaughter, Sidney Kate Romano. Danielle was the daughter of James Robert Roig and Susan Barone Roig and the sister of Darren James Roig (Starnell), Dean Joseph Roig (Kim), and the late Derek John Roig. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Danielle was born on October 18, 1969 in St. Bernard. She lived most of her life in St. Bernard Parish but later moved to Madisonville where she was presently residing. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1987 and attended LSU Health Science Center where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Danielle was a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to have known her. Joseph Roy Celino Sr. passed away on Saturday August 25, 2018 at his home in Abita Springs, LA, at the age 0f 79. He was born in New Orleans, LA. A lifelong resident of Chalmette and for the last 12 years resided in Abita Springs, LA. He was owner and operator of Crescent Auto Parts and Supply in New Orleans, LA for over 50 years. His passions in life were his family first, and his business, and playing golf with his life-long buddies. He was the son of the late Joseph Celino and the late Rosalie Guccione Celino Meyer. He was the loving husband of Marie Meilleur Celino for 59 years, And the wonderful and loving father of Donna Lynn Marie Celino Gunn, Joseph Roy Celino, Jr. and wife Mia. Preceded in death by two daughters: Denise Marie Celino and Debra Marie Celino Schaefer. Brother of JoAnn Lane and her late husband John, and Frank Celino and his wife, Marie. He leaves behind nine loving grandchildren: Derrick Gunn Jr. and his wife Ashley, Joshua Gunn, Seth, Sarah and Ethan Schaefer, and Joseph, Dayna, Christian and Jeremy Celino. Also survived by four great-grandchildren: Maliyah, Myla, Jesse, and Gabriel. Private services were held on Monday, August 27, 2018. Cremation was handled by Serenity Funeral Home in Covington.
James A. “Jim” Danton
James A. “Jim” Danton of Carriere, MS, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the age of 79. A native of New Orleans, LA, he was a Marine Oil/Gas Insurance Salesman and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Jim was U.S. Navy Honorably Discharged with the rank of Second Class Petty Officer. He earned the coveted Naval Air Crew Wings, while attached AIRASRON31. He participated in Flight Operations in both the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Jim graduated from Chalmette High School, Loyola University of the South, City College with a degree in Commercial Sciences, Cumlade. He was inducted into Blue Key Honor Fraternity, Crossed Keys Honor Fraternity, and Who’s Who in America’s Universities and Colleges. He served 4 years as a City College Representative to the Student Government Assoc. The last year, he was treasurer of the Student Government Assoc. Jim completed a 35 year career in Energy Insurance, and was early retired as President of Southern Marine Underwriters. He served on the National Board of Directors of the Sedgwick Federation of Companies in the United States. As a resident of Chalmette, LA, he was involved in coaching football, basketball, and baseball. His teams won parish wide championships in all three sports. A past president of the Versailles Booster Club. A resident of South Pearl River County since 1996, he is an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, having served as both Vice President and President of the Parish Council. He is Head Usher at the Saturday Vigil Mass, a member of Council 6872 Knights of Columbus, and Assembly 2227 Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He held various offices in both. He is a past Faithful Navigator of Assembly 2227 Knights of Columbus. Jim served over 13 years on the Board of Directors of Hide A Way Lake, most as Treasurer. He was also a member of the Picayune Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Danton and Anna Buttone Whittle; and his son, Gregory Paul Danton. Survivors include his wife, Jewel “Pat” Germaine Armstrong Danton; his son, Joseph Mark Danton (Suzi); his grandchildren, Britton Danton, Joseph Danton, and Peyton Douglas Danton; and his sister, Mary Ann Danton Noel Cantrel. Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial for James was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mary Santiago entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the age of 77. She will be greatly missed for her sense of humor and care and concern of others. Gregory Allen Jenkins entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the age of 56. Affectionately known by his family and friends as “Big Greg”, “Boss’, “Catdaddy”, “ Mr. G”, and “Mr. Gizzle”. He leaves to cherish his memories his long-time companion and love of his life Yolonda Weber. His parents Curtis and Mary Jenkins. Two brothers Stevie (Robin) and Donald (Lashanda). His aunts and uncle Stella “Weezy” Jenkins, Collen Wilson, and Sylvester Carr. His cousin/sisters Ruby Faye and Ella Dee. He leaves his spirit and life memories to his children Greg (Lakisha), his mom Louise and sons Garrick, Curtis (LaTara), his mom Tammy and sons Robert and Quintin, Ayanna and Aaliyah. His grandchildren Alanna, Greg, Jr., Curtis, Jr., Colby, Capri, Cyi and Skylar. Also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Albert A. Schellhaas
Albert A. Schellhaas of Kenner, Louisiana, age 88, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Passages Hospice in New Orleans following a brief illness. He joins his beloved wife Betty B. Schellhaas, who predeceased him in 2006. He leaves his sons: Wayne A. Schellhaas, Kirt L.Schellhaas, Scott A. Schellhaas; his daughter-in-law Michele Dauterive Schellhaas; his son-in-law Malcolm Boyer; his grandchildren Scott Schellhaas Jr., Ryan Schellhaas, Brad Schellhaas and Jena Schellhaas. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Born and raised in New Orleans, La, the son of Albert A. Schellhaas Sr and Claire Jordan Schellhaas. Mr. Schellhaas was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. He was a graduate of S.J. Peters High school and attended Tulane University. He retired from Amstar Corporation (Domino Sugar) where he ran the Chalmette Sugar Refinery among his many high level positions. Mr. Schellhaas was a veteran and served his country in the U.S. Navy. An avid singer, Mr. Schellhaas sang barbershop music for over 60 years with the Mardi Gras Chorus. The Mardi Gras Chorus raises money to help children with hearing issues. In addition, he was a devoted member and choir participant at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Kenner for many years. Visitation was held at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, where a brief service and reception followed.
